SOFTWARE• software is a set of programs.• A sequence of instructions related to

the effected information of a computer system are termed as software.

• A sequence of interaction given to a computer to perform a particular task called software.

• It is a mediator of hardware and user.

Types of software

• These are following three type:-• (1) system software• (2) Utility software• (3) Application soft ware

System software

• A system software are set of one and more programs that are basically designed to control the operations.

• System package support following:-• (A) gives platform to run other software

package.• (B) Its makes communication with peripheral devises.• (C) Development of other software.• (D) Monitoring the hardware recourses.

System software are classified in:-

• (A) Operating system• (B) Assembler• (C) Interpreter• (D) Compiler

Operating system• An operating system is define as

software that act an interface between the user and computer hardware.

• It provide the platform on which other software application.

• The O S has in two main component:-• (i) kernel • (ii) shell

• KERNELL- kernel is the core component of the OS .that is trace computer hardware.

• SHELL – the shell is Pease of software that provide an interface for user . It is usely refers to an operating system shell which provide axis to the service of a kernel.

UTILITY SOFTWARE• A utility programs is progam designed

to perform maintenance work on a system or on system component.

• Example :- storage backup, disk recovery, recourse auditor.

• It is also known as devise program.• It has routines that perform services

such as editing text , debugging program to correct logical mistake, transferring data from I\O devises to another.

• (A) text editor • (B) Debugging tools• (C) memory dump program• (D) trace routine• (E) pip • (F) loader• (G) locater• (H) linker

APPLICATION SOFTWARE• Application software particular

designed to demand on user to perform in a special task.

• It is user friendly software because its make easy to user work.

• Like as :- Microsoft office , tally etc.
