Kreutzer will be attending the NAIA powerhouse on a full scholarship valued at around $30,000 a year, which covers room and board, tuition and all other expenses. “I’m very excited to be able to continue to play the sport I love in college,” said Cyd- ney. “I feel very blessed. But I couldn’t have gotten to this point without my amazing family and teammates.” Cydney will be playing for legendary Raven head coach, Chad Folsom, who is Benedictine’s all-time leader in wins with an overall record of 232-124 in 11 years at the helm. Those familiar with the TSJC basket- ball program might remember Folsom as he served as head coach at Lamar Community College for four years in the early 2000’s. “We are excited to have Cydney on board, she’s a heck of a ballplayer and an athlete,” said Folsom. “She’s a hardnosed basketball player with great basketball IQ. She can score, rebound and get physical. She’s a proven leader and we are extremely excited to have her here at Benedictine College.” “I have enjoyed my journey with Cydney and her friends,” said Cydney’s mother and Lady Farmer head coach, Beth Kreutzer. “I began coaching her in Kindergarten, Jr. High and now through high school. It has been a special bond not just for us, but for her and her dad and friends as well. Sports have always been something that we as a family enjoy playing, watching, and analyz- ing. Kreutzer would like to major in sports and exercise science while studying at Benedictine before working on her Master’s Degree in occupational therapy. Lady Trojans bring in New Mexico shortstop For the third straight year, Trinidad State Softball Coach Steve Swazo has signed a player from Bernalillo High School in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Joining the Trojans for the class of 2015-16 will be shortstop/pitcher Isabella Navarro. Even though Navarro was recruited primarily as a shortstop for the Lady Trojans she will handle most of the pitching duties this spring for her high school team. “Isabella, or ‘Bella’ as she is called by teammates, will fit right in with our style of players,” Swazo said. “She is a strong player, very athletic and has some deceiv- ing power. She comes from a great high school program that also produced cur- rent TSJC pitcher Demi Madalena and former TSJC standout Deanna Montano who graduated last year.” Last year as a junior, Navarro hit .481 with 37 hits, 14 RBIs and three homeruns. She earned first team all-district and all-district academic awards. She is the daughter of Pat and Debbie Navarro. Lady Farmer will play NAIA basketball
