Time Events8.00 am Today is the first day of internship. As I enter Natural Resource and

Environmental Board (NREB) office at 8.00 am, I was introduced to Mr Joseph Uyo as the person that will be my supervisor throughout this internship. He introduced me to every employees that were present at the particular time and he also brings me around the place. He then brings me to his office to discuss stuff regarding internship at NREB.

11.00 am Mr Joseph Uyo hands me my training schedule and assign me tasks that I would be doing throughout this internship. From the training schedule, I would be involved in Human Resource, Administration and Finance Department these 2 weeks.

2.00 pm I was given Natural Resource and Environmental Ordinance (NREO). I was required to read and understand the laws written on the NREO as NREB focused more on enforcing rules.

2.00 pm As I continue to study Part V of the Ordinances regarding Fund and Financial Provision, I learned that the Funds given to NREB is used to pay any expenditure lawfully incurred by the Boards which includes legal fees and other fees and costs, the salaries, remuneration and allowances of members, committees, officers and servants appointed and employed by the Board,

including superannuation allowances, provident fund, pensions and gratuities.

It also explains about miscellaneous offences, pollution of lands, presumption, defence, default in compliance with notice or order, power of entry and investigation, power of seizure, offence by bodies of persons, power to prosecute and legal representation, public servants, personal immunity of members, officers and employees, Public Authority Protection Act 1948, and Security for protection under laws

8.30 AM Went to Marudi for inspection with 3 senior staffs which are Mdm Sati, Mr Kennedy and Mr Salleh after they received report from NREB HQ in Kuching regarding open burning. The signal was detected by satellite and we went there according to the direction by GPS tracker

10.30 AM Arrived at Marudi area (plantation/forest). The inspection began.

10.45 AM We arrived at the place according to coordinate. The forest has been burnt down and there are no longer flames. We talked to the workers and warn them that their burning licence is going to expired tomorrow so they are not allow to burn anymore forest.

1.00 PM Lunch

2.00 PM We went back using the same route as we used previously and we saw another group of people without licence is burning down forest. Thus, we immediately go there and warn them of the consequence of open burning without legal licence and the fines that we will enforce upon them if they did not put off the fire.

8.30 AM I was invited to go along to building construction called Pull Men Hotel and Resort as a part if an inspection

8.45 AM We arrived at the building construction and we enter the building up to 22th floor to meet the manager of the construction site. He hand in Environment Inspection Assessment (EIA) to us and we make sure that the construction site is doing what was written on the report.

10.00 AM We walked around the construction site and arrived at the dumping site. We found out that their waste management is not in order and have disturbed land next to the construction site. Warning has been given to the manager of the construction site and arrived as well as the owner of the land.
