“IN THIS MOMENT”

Local Jersey Girl’s New Single to benefit Sandy Relief

Atlantic City Release Party, March 9th at House of Blues

22 year old Jersey Shore native and singer/songwriter, Candi Lynn will release a new single “In This Moment” on March 12, 2013. Written by Lynn and produced by Famous Artist Music Production duo “The Crew” with remixes by nationally syndicated mixshow DJs, Smashmode (92.3 Now/WNOW), DJ Reidiculous (103.5 WKTU) and BeatBangerzz (Z88.9/WBZC), “In This Moment” is already creating a buzz with DJs & radio programmers across the country, including pickup by various CBS stations as well as Top 40 heavies such as WKXZ in Chicago and WXKS in Boston.

With various shows scheduled over the next few months- the celebra-tion begins March 9th in Atlantic City with a release party at The Foundation Room @ House of Blues. Candi will also appear at The Winter Music Conference this year in South Beach, Miami (FL) with additional performances at Party 105 Live (NY) and the Philadelphia Mummers Museum (PA), to name a few. Candi Lynn will be perform-ing live at Life in Color (The Worlds Largest Paint Party) formerly known as DayGlow where she will be filming her official music video for “In This Moment” on April 11th at Webster Bank Arena (CT).

After watching her community and her lifelong childhood memories completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, it was...”In This Moment” that Candi Lynn decided to take 100% of her iTunes sales and buy Gift cards to distribute relief to families directly impacted by Hurri-cane Sandy. With her upcoming Jersey Shore Relief Tour to promote “In This Moment” she’ll encourage her fans to “Spread the Jersey love one download at a time for Sandy relief.” Gift cards will continue to be distributed directly to families affected throughout the barrier islands in and around her hometown of Long Beach Island, NJ includ-ing but not limited to Seaside Heights, Mystic Island, Tuckerton & Atlantic City.

The recent popularity of Candi Lynn follows the success of her two previous singles. “Hop’N Pop’N”, released in 2010 with a remix by Major Label Remixers “The Disco Fries” (Katy Perry, Pitbull, Avicii and more) & “DJ Zilos”(24/7 Dance Radio) and “Luna-tics” produced by Rich “The Riddler” Pangilinan (SiriusXM,103.5 KTU,WHTZ,KKHH,) released in 2011/2012. Other songs saw significant mixshow airplay and “Lunatics” kicked off the runway show at Celebrity Designer & VH1 Glam God Indashio’s Mercedes Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Show. A corresponding video was featured on AOL Music in October 2012. To date the video has received over 200,000+ views on youtube, bringing Candi Lynn’s youtube page to over 500,000 total upload views http://www.youtube.com/illmiss-musick

In the past 18 months, Lynn has shared the stage with artists such as Wynter Gordon, Jay Sean, Mia Martina, Craig Smart, Matisse, Denine and Lissette Melendez. She has also attended various red carpet events, walking alongside Alicia Keys, Kat DeLuna, Jennifer Lopez, Swizz Beats, Aretha Franklin and many more.

CANDI LYNN

Page 12: Society Page Magazine

How did you get started in this business?

I got started in this business as a college radio jock in 1994 while attending Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Along with WJMF Radio, I provided mu-sic for the school’s basketball and volleyball games and other miscel-laneous events on campus. Upon getting my degree in 1998, I took my love for music and started DJ Bishop Entertainment and began to do clubs and private events in Hartford, CT for a year, then be-coming the resident DJ for Jillians in Northeast Philly after moving to the area in 1999.

What do you like most about performing?

It’s all about the crowd reaction….taking them on a musical journey. Every crowd is different, but you know you’ve “rocked a crowd” when the dance floor stays packed no matter what song/genre you’re playing. You’ve worked with a lot of celebrities – Who has been your favorite to work with and why?

Tough question…I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing many celebrities thru my internet radio show, ENTER THE ECLECTIC. But if I had to choose one, it would be Naughty By Nature. Treach, “Uncle” Vinnie, and DJ KayGee

are three of most humble and easy going people you’ll ever meet. I was already a fan of the legendary Hip-Hop group before my inter-view with them and when I had the chance to meet them in person, they welcomed me with open arms like I was family. It’s an experience I’ll never forget. What do you think makes you different from other performers?

My tagline is “Dat Eclectic DJ”…my musical taste is very ECLEC-TIC. I don’t think there’s a genre of music that I hate. Because of this, it makes me creative when I spin. When I’m really in a groove, I sometimes shock myself in what tracks I’ve played to rock a crowd. At a recent event, I did a live mashup of “Call Me When You’re Sober” by the rock group Evanes-cence and P. Diddy’s “Come To Me”… at the end of the night I had a person say to me that he’d “never heard Evanscence like that before”. I take this same creativity with me no matter the type of event, clubs, weddings, private parties, fashion shows. I try to stay eclectic in all my sets. This is partly the reason I’ve been voted as one of the Top 10 DJs in the Philly Region for the past three years on the MyPHL 17 Philly HOTLIST.

Finish the sentence! My staple song that ALWAYS gets the crowd moving is…

WOW….my staple song has to be “Poison” by Bell Biv Devoe. There’s something about that open-ing drum beat that EVERYONE recognizes. I’ve never had a situ-ation where the crowd didn’t get HYPE when that

song hits. I love getting the crowd to “sing the song like they wrote it.”

What is a day in the life of DJ Bishop like?

My average day is a constant grind. I always say that my to-do list has it’s own to-do list. My day usu-ally starts with me responding to emails, downloading music from record pools, organizing them and getting ready for the weekend gigs and my weekly internet radio show, ENTER THE ECLECTIC. My day also involves getting the music videos together for my IFameTV show, THA’ HUNGA VIDEO MIXTAPE SHOW. Lastly, as New Jersey Regional Manager of the Bumsquad DJz, it’s my responsi-bility to help promote upcoming events, tours, radio shows, mixes, etc. from my fellow, hard-working Bumsquad DJs in my region.…all

while being a dedicated husband and father to my two kids. What do you hope your life looks like 10 years from now?

Ten years from now, I hope to still be rocking crowds: private events, clubs, radio, TV…it doesn’t mat-ter. I don’t think the term “retire” should be in a DJ’s vocabulary unless he/she has really lost love for the art. I want to take DJ Bishop Entertainment to the next level. In ten years, I hope to DJing alongside my son or daughter. Currently, both of my kids are “rock stars” at their school because their “daddy is a DJ”. I plan to pass the “DJ Bishop” name down to one (or both) of my kids one day. My motto is “I love what I do, and do what I love…and I hope it shows.”

FAVORITE CHILDHOOD BOARD GAMES Last week we began our journey back in time to the days when playing games with our friends was a lot less, shall we say complicated. We’re talking pre Xbox, pre Playstation...Hell even pre Nintendo! Before the modern video game era, all we needed were good friends, a sturdy table, a bowl of Doritos and our favorite board game for entertainment. So lets continue our Final Four countdown of our top picks of Childhood Board Games.

Party Nerdz,Darnell Hicks

Operation (ages 6-14)

Let’s face it, that poor guy with the Three Stooges hair cut had it BAD. There was a pencil wedged in his forearm, a huge moth in his stomach and somehow he had a small horse stuck in his hip…In the real world that’s instant death. Nevertheless, this game remains a clas-sic among kids today.

I remember playing this game so much the AA batteries would die. But as a child, my cousins and I would still try to play it anyway. We quickly realized playing Operation without batteries was like playing Atari without a joystick…there was no point.

Monopoly (ages 8 and up)

Aside from checkers and chess, is there a game more recognizable than Monopoly? It has had hundreds of makeovers, add-ons, spe-cial editions and revisions to easily be considered one of the greatest games in American history. I guess rich Uncle Pennybags (the little old man with the top-hat, don’t act like you knew that was his name) will keep “Passing Go” until the end of time.

Players each begin with $1500, then take turns rolling the dice, while advancing clockwise around the board, buying property, laying down hotels, collecting cards, going to jail and even parking for free. Ulti-mately, the winner is that one rich bastard who has sucked the cash out of everyone by loading the board with hotels.

While everyone picked the sports car, horse and battleship, I always remember choosing the thimble. Why you may ask? Because the idea

of a “entrepreneur thimble” running around the streets of Atlantic City buying up property is not only absurd, but embarrassing to the other pieces getting BEAT by it!

Clue (ages 8 +)

The way it was: First published in the Untied Kingdom, Cluedo (its original name) has become the quintessential “who dun-it” game for crime solvers everywhere. As much as we would LOVE to put the blame on the butler, in the American version of this game he is not a suspect.

Growing up I remember playing the Clue board game, card game, VCR game and I even remember seeing the CLUE movie. So I guess you could say Ms. Peacock, Colonel Mustard and Professor Plum were almost like family to me…even though I could never trust them.

Battleship (ages 7 and up)

Battleship was said to be invented over a century ago by prisoners who would yell out coordinates into neighboring cells. So to all you battleship junkies out there…H7, B6 and C5 are all hits!

Who can forget the 80’s commercial where the two old snotty British guys are playing Battleship in the balcony during an opera. At the end of the commercial the one man screams out “You sank my battleship!” This exclamation became a popular 80’s catchphrase right up there with Where’s the Beef? and They’re Grrrrrreat!

Supper Club

Agave NegroBeverage director and sommelier Franklin Ferguson’s inspiration for this drink was bubble tea. The round sections of blackberry (called drupelets) mimic the look of the tapioca pearls in the popular Asian beverage.

Skewer one blackberry and the lime wheel on a pick. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the remaining 2 blackber-ries. Add the ice, tequila, lime juice, Simple Syrup and Chambord. Shake well and pour into a rocks glass. Stir in the club soda and garnish with the skewered blackberry and lime wheel.

Ingredients:

3 blackberries1 lime wedge1 cup ice1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila3/4 ounce fresh lime juice3/4 ounce Simple Syrup1/2 ounce Chambord1 ounce chilled club soda

You can almost taste the excitement. This spring, Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City will host four grand openings as Tony Luke’s, Marketplace Express, Perry’s Pizza and Casa Taco & Tequila Bar join the ever evolving list of dining options in The Marketplace.

They will be joining Broadway Burger in the spring of 2013 and the summer 2013 grand opening of Chickie’s and Pete’s Crab House and Sports Bar. The resort also recently opened Lick, the ultimate candy shop for kids of all ages.

“The changes coming to The Marketplace will be truly transformational. With a welcoming, energetic atmosphere and fabulous food and beverage choices, we’re making the Tropicana experience even more exciting for our guests,” says Steve Callender, GM of Tropicana Atlantic City.

Tony Luke’s, the real taste of South Philly, will offer world-famous Philly Cheese-steaks. Marketplace Express will serve grab-and-go coffee drinks, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, fresh salads, signature sandwiches

and Italian specialties. Casa Taco & Tequila Bar will feature 50 different tequilas, a private party room, indoor and outdoor seating. Perry’s Pizza, an authentic pizzeria, and rounds out the new dining options making their debut at Tropicana.

Siganos Group, known for high end food court eateries in Atlantic City and in the best malls on the East Coast, is pleased to make this investment on the Boardwalk at Tropicana. “We wanted to offer Tropicana guests and Boardwalk visitor’s authentic dining experiences in unique settings,” says George Siganos, President of Siganos Group.

“Whether looking to enjoy a taco and tequila, a famous Philly cheese-steak, a slice of pizza or pastry, guests can enjoy a culinary journey all in one place.”

The Marketplace at Tropicana currently offers Fiesta Buffet, A Dam Good Deli, Firewater’s, James Salt Water Taffy, Hooters, Create-A-Cone, Boardwalk Corner Store, and Starbucks.
