Treasurer’s Report

Here's to a happy new year to everyone and to a successful SFPE Chapter. Since there was no meeting in De-cember, this report covers the period since the November 19 meeting. At the last meeting there were 23 people who attended, but unfortunately, Houndslake Country Club policy is to charge us for the 25 reservations made, plus a room fee, plus ice tea charge, plus tax and gratuity. The meal receipts fell $23.31 short of the final bill. If you make a reservation and cannot attend, please cancel early so we can avoid unnecessary costs. The Chapter pol-icy has been to request payment of a portion of the shortfall in receipts from those who made reservations and failed to show or cancel.

After the first four months of the Fiscal Year, the Chapter has 42 members on the roll. Bill James was lucky enough to win the 50/50 and kind enough to donate it all back to the Chapter. Thanks Bill! Total income from the past two months was $537.00 ($440.00 dining, $75.00 membership dues, $11.00 50/50, and $11.00 gifts) and ex-penses were $463.31 (Houndslake CC). This brings the current balance to $4,204.69.

On December 11, 2013, Ralph Foster taught a class on

reviewing sprinkle shop drawings to 18 local code offi-

cials in the Charleston area. The class teaches Authori-

ties Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) how to review sprinkler

shop drawings including the hydraulic calculations and

product data sheets. The class teaches common design

mistakes, CAD errors, and deceptive practices.

The class provides students a combination of lecture

and hands on practice reviewing a set of sprinkler shop

drawings. The class is also approved for continuing

education credit for Code Officials in South Carolina.

Ralph taught this class in September to 16 AHJs from

the Hilton Head Island and Bluffton area.

Thanks and Great Job Ralph!
