SOCIETY FOR BIOTECHNOLOGISTS (INDIA)

News Letter May 2019 Volume 02

I am happy to learn that the second Newsletter of the Society for Biotechnolo-gists (India) is being released in the website of the society. I congratulate all members and executive committee for their continued support and co-operation to sustain the activities of the society. SBTI is an association of scientists, students, doctors, engi-neers, academicians and professionals who are involved in promoting and populariz-ing biotechnology research, education and applications in the country. The member-ship is open to all who pursue their careers in this branch of science, which is, in essence, interdisciplinary in nature. Having a strength of 2000 members from differ-ent areas of biotechnology, the society has proven to be a large public forum for organizing seminars, workshop, symposia and special lectures on yearly basis. The young and elder scientists are recognized for their academic contributions by confer-ring prestigious awards and medals every year. The society will celebrate the Silver Jubilee next year. The annual meeting of the society for 2019 will be held on Septem-ber 27-28, 2019 in Shri. Ramswaroop Memorial University, Lucknow along with the National Conference on Biotechnology Innovations. I invite all the members and non members to participate in the symposium and meeting and make these events suc-cessful.

for Neuroscience and International Brain Research Organisation School at CUSAT with around 1000 dele-gates from various countries. He showed keen interest in making a better platform for his researchers by con-ducting regular workshops, conferences and interac-tions with world class researchers like Nobel laureate Martin Chalfie. He had been the pillar of success behind Centre for Neuroscience, Society for Biotech-nologists, India and neuroscience research at CUSAT. His social commitment made him very keen in con-ducting World Brain Awareness week every year under CNS to give awareness program to general public regarding Neurological and Psychological conditions and new neurobiology advances in the world. Even though the clock of his life stopped ticking, his knowl-edge and wisdom finds its glory through his students, peers and colleagues. He received many prestigious awards for his contributions in the field of neuroscience. A few to mention are: Sir Sreeram Memorial Oration Award instituted by the National Academy of Medical Scienc-es (2007), Kamala B. K. Anand Oration Award by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (2009) and many more. He was Fellow of the National Academy of MedicalMedical Sciences and also the chairman of the Board of Studies and also as a member of the academic council. Prof. Paulose had served as the President and Secretary of Society for Biotechnologists, India and had organized several scientific seminars at CUSAT as well as other research institutions. He had lifelong membership in many scientific organizations. He tried to bring the expertise of many renowned doctors and technicians in the major hospitals in Kerala to his research.research. He also extended his research in Medical Nanotechnology. Apart from research, he had been a part of several other academic committees. He was a member of the Biotechnology Planning Board, Govern-ment of Kerala in 2006. He also had served as a member in Purchase committee for instruments at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology for many years.Prof. Paulose was a man of great energy and enthusi-asm. He always used to tell his students “don’t worry, be happy”. As a mentor, he was success in providing a scientific environment for his students.
