Apps for Venues

Expanding your social media into a branding and ticket selling

machine

Page 2: Social Media Apps for Venues

My three main ticket selling tools in social media:

Each integrated with sub-tools:

A good sales department consists of: Consistent messaging

Energized team

Understanding of brand and customer

Attention to detail

The ability to communicate & continue the conversation even when you are in your off-season.

Social media management requires the same things.

Your social media connections are your online sales team.

“Facebook is about putting the power of trusted referrals to work.” – Bobby Johnson, Chief Engineer, Facebook

FacebookPrimary goal = They buy a ticket

Secondary goal = They get their friend to buy a ticket

Allow supporters to “Tell a Friend” or “Share” it on Facebook or Twitter.

Posting “I just bought tickets to Chick Corea at MCG Jazz!” can influence their closest and most trusting friends.

New solutions from major ticketing providers allow your customer to not only tell their friends, but to tell their friends

where they are sitting and hold seats near them for their friends.

Facebook

Develop relationships with people who are putting their preferences, favorites & more right in front of you.

They like you or your venue but don’t know you or haven’t found you yet.

Who likes you? First of all, just assume that everyone likes you.

But then, search Facebook for groups or pages that are similar to your brand or venue and invite their fans to become fans of your page.

Foursquare

A geolocator.

You say, “I am at the Ohio Theatre” Foursquare maps it for you

Tells your followers

Keeps track of how many times you check in

Rewards you with virtual goodies and sometimes discounts & gifts from retailers, bars, etc.

Twitter

Asks “What are you doing?”

Twitter has evolved to be not just “what are you doing?” but “what have you read?” “what interests you?” and “what is hilarious, poignant, thought-provoking, etc?”

Post compelling tweets that inspire retweeting

Allow and inspire others to share your message

Allows for photos in your feed.

Twitter

Key Twitter tips: Create a short handle.

Don’t get scooped.

Edit, edit, edit.

Be compelling, be funny, be smart.

Get retweeted.

Google+

Large companies are using it (by invite only, it appears.)

Negative Feedback

How to respond?Quickly

Honestly

Openly

Nicely

What does that accomplish? Transparency Customer service Conversation

Page 19: Social Media Apps for Venues

Or don’t respond….

If you can’t respond in a nice way….don’t.

Most times your ardent fans will come to your rescue before you can pen a calm, rational response.

Let them. Nothing better than a raving fan to save the day.
