“Yokoso!” means “welcome!” in Japanese. JAMT welcomes participants from around the world.Participants will be welcomed with a live performance of the shamisen, a Japanese traditional stringed instrument.We will perform kagami-biraki, a traditional Japanese ceremony to break open a wooden sake barrel and serve sake, an alcoholic drink made from rice.Originating in Japan, the kendama now enjoys worldwide popularity among children and adults alike. Please take this opportunity to play with a kendama.The Aquaculture Research Institute at Kindai University succeeded in completely farm-raising blue fin tuna for the first time in the world in 1979. Enjoy watching a professional skillfully filleting a huge farm-raised tuna right before your eyes, and try some fresh tuna meat.Photography is allowed. Mobile phones should be set to silent mode.

GEIMARUZA is a group of young dancers who completed the course in Japanese dance at the Department of Traditional Japanese Music, Tokyo University of the Arts.GEIMARUZA has given performances both in Japan and abroad across dif ferent schools of dance to disseminate and promote Japanese culture in a clear, pleasant, and enjoyable way.

Yumi NakamuraStarted kendama in her childhood in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Pref., which is considered to be where kendama originated. The first genius kendama girl who set many records (the youngest contestant, the highest score, etc.). Won the Japan Kendama Association Cup with full marks (the first ever to do so). Won the 27th All Japan Kendama Championship for Students in 2011. Became the first female finalist in Kendama World Cup 2014.Graduated from Kobe Pharmaceutical University. she spreads the fun of kendama while working as a pharmacist at a dispensary. Has appeared on TV many times, affiliated with the professional team of a kendama manufacturer in Taiwan.

This is an official event to celebrate the opening of the Congress and will be attended by many Japanese guests.

＊You cannot enter the hall after the ceremony starts at 15:00. Therefore, please be seated at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.This hall has a capacity of 1,500. It may take some time to enter the hall.While you may sit in any seat except some reserved seats, you are kindly required to be seated from the center of each row.If you move to the hall from the International Exhibition Hall, please enter the hall from the front entrance.Please follow the instructions of the Congress staff when entering and being seated in the hall.

＊In the first part of the ceremony, the Congress Organizer will deliver an address, followed by messages from guests .The Japanese national anthem will be sung by a soloist.

Vocalist, violinist, composer, copywriter, radio and TV host from Australia.Sarah Àlainn, originally from Sydney, began studying the violin from the age of 5. She studied under Perry Hart, the star pupil of Szymon Goldberg, a legendary violinist who at the young age of 20 became the concertmaster for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Winning domestic competitions she soon gained recognition for her talents and enrolled at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and graduated with a High Distinction average from the University of Sydney, whilst studying abroad at the University of Tokyo.In 2012 Sarah signed a record deal with Universal Music Japan releasing her debut album “Celeste”, reaching #1 on the iTunes Japan Vocal Charts. Her second album, “SARAH” was released in 2014 reaching #1 position in the Billboard Japan classical music charts, her 13th entry into the Japanese music charts.

KanrokuPuppeteer of Ningyo-JoruriThe Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of March 11, 2011 marked a turning point in his life. Kanroku lef t the Bun-raku Company after 33 years and has become a freelance artist since January 2012.K a n r o k u s e e k s t h e real izat ion of the fu l l potent ial of puppetry a r t s i n c o m m un i t i e s throughout the country.

Ningyo-joruri"Ningyo-joruri", also and better known as "Bunraku", is a form of traditional Japanese puppet theater. In comparison with "Bunraku", this is the most accurate term for this art, for the term Bunraku originally referred only to the particular theater estab-lished in 1805 in Osaka. This theater, however, was so successful that the name became synonymous with the art form. Nowadays, there is the only national theater and its pro-fessional company entitled to use the name of Bunraku. Thus the term "Bunraku" is the one representing the ultimate part but not necessarily covering the whole mountain range of "Ningyo-joruri", which has been a documented traditional activity practiced in diverse areas by Japanese people for hundreds of years. In the present form, three puppeteers are required to operate each puppet, making it quite unique and original in world puppetry. The movements of the puppets are so delicate and subtle that at times the performances can be even more beautiful, exciting and heart-rending than if human actors were being used.

IFBLS held the first Silent Auction in Nairobi, Kenya at the 29th IFBLS Congress as a fund raiser. IFBLS members generously donated gifts specific to their countries for the auction. At the 30th IFBLS Congress in Berlin, Germany, another successful Silent Auction was held and we are pleased to advise that we will again have a Silent Auction as the 32nd IFBLS World Congress in Kobe, Japan. The funds raised from the Silent Auction are used to support various activities of IFBLS such as the Awards Program.Please consider bringing a small gift as a donation to the Silent Auction bearing in mind that people will be taking the gift home in their suitcase. Toshiaki YokotaJapanese composer and flutist. A pioneer of the jazz flute in Japan, he started his career at age 17, when he gained acclaim as the lead flutist in Takeshi Inomata’s “Sound Unlimited.”Yokota currently lives in Izu-Inatori, where he has his own studio by the sea and creates original music using instruments he has built himself. He has given live performances in cities throughout Japan, and still actively composes and plays music for film and TV.
