Resource sheet 2.1.2 – Let’s get motivated challenge
We are all unique! We enjoy and value different things.
Your challenge is to create a catalogue of motivators or rewards to make sure that you finish activities you find hard to complete or learn new skills.
The first task is to find out what things motivate each individual in your group and to agree on a reward or motivator for completing the challenge. It must be realistic, fair and meet the needs of all members of the group. Give this to your teacher.
Your main challenge is to create a catalogue of motivators or rewards from which the class and members of staff can choose.
This must:
include useful and practical ideas; ●
be based upon your own ●
experiences and views;
provide evidence of why you have ●
chosen the motivators or rewards;
include words, pictures and other ●
visual reminders.
be attractive; ●
include ideas from all members of ●
your group.

Resource sheet 2.4.1 – Why did things go wrong?Sharna had just seen on the noticeboard that she hadn’t been picked for the 1. netball team.
Tom got a Level 3 for his English work. He was disappointed as he had spent a lot 2. of time on it and thought that he would achieve a higher level.
Jo was told by the teacher that she was going to have to stay behind after the 3. lesson because she continued to talk when the teacher had asked her to stop.
Yet again Paul was late for school. He had missed the bus once more.4.
Tia had tried for ten minutes to do the maths calculation in front of her. In the 5. end she gave up.
This was the third weekend in a row that Josh’s mum had forgotten that she had 6. promised to take him into town to get his new football boots on Saturday.
Ruth watched the group of girls having lunch together. They looked like they 7. were having fun. Yet again she was having lunch by herself.
Sam had gone to the shop as soon as he had seen the advert for the Saturday 8. job. He walked up to the owner and introduced himself, saying he was interested in the job. The owner had looked at him for a minute and then said, ‘Sorry the job’s already gone.’
Once more the experiment had gone wrong. Lucy was going to have to borrow 9. someone else’s results to be able to do her homework.
Panic overtook Said; he searched again in his bag. He was sure that he had put 10. his history book in this morning. He’d be in more trouble with the teacher.
Emma looked again. She just didn’t understand what she had written in her 11. homework diary for geography and it was due in tomorrow.
The football team had lost 5–0. Bill wondered if he should bother going to the 12. practice.

Resource sheet 2.5.1 – Getting better and betterTick the boxes to show when you agree or disagree with the statements.
Number Question Agree Disagree
1 When I start something new, I want to get it right straight away or I stop doing it.
2 I think that everyone needs to practise if they are to learn new skills.
3 If I can’t do something well straight way it probably means that I will never be good at it.
4 I don’t like trying something new in case I am unsuccessful and am shown up in front of my friends.
5 If I fail at something, I don’t give up but keep on trying to try to get better.
6 I like to show others that I am successful at a task or activity otherwise I think it is not worth doing it.
7 I will do something I enjoy even if I am not good at it.
8 I enjoy trying to learn something new or trying to do a difficult activity.
9 I like trying new things so that I can learn something new.
10 It is only worth doing something if you are good at it.
