8 Week Parent Course:Teens & ASD
Helping your child into Adulthood
For: Parents and Caregivers with Teens with ASD.
Program Description: An intensive 8 week program designed to examine specific issues associated with teens with ASD.
Goals: To provide support and strategies that will help promote independence and growth for their children.
The course will look at factors that predispose teens with ASD some mental health issues and discuss ways of recognising and further help is needed.
Course Outline:
Week 1: ASD In the teen years – What to Expect.
Week 2: Puberty & Sexuality & ASD
Week 3: Mental Health Issues/ Anxiety & ASD
Week 4: Self Esteem – Maladaptive thoughts
Week 5: Social Issues – Keeping Safe. Social Isolation, Circle of Intimacy
Week 6: Successful Secondary Schooling & Beyond
Week 7: Life Skills & Driving
Week 8: Successful Transitioning into Adulthood
New Enrolments being taken each term.
Course Times: 8.00pm -9.00pm
Fee: $800.00
