February 2018

Dear Champion Life Family,

“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.” Psalm 111:2-3 NIV

As the psalmist said, great are the works of the Lord. We have seen the mighty hand of God throughout the year and we are in awe of the glorious and majestic deeds he did through our ministry. Here are some of the great highlights of 2017.

LEADERSHIP EQUIPPING AND DEVELOPMENT (LEAD) SCHOOL Our Lead School course helped equip more leaders. We have been able to conduct 5 Lead School (4 part-time and 1 fulltime) which graduated 171 “sons” who are demonstrating the kingdom principles in our Centres including Trinidad and the Philippines.

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH GRACE AND TRUTH CHURCH, KOREA Last year Champion Life Centre advanced the Kingdom of God through its strategic alliances. CLC and Grace and Truth Church entered into a partnership for the furtherance of the Gospel in Canada. As a result, CLC employed Rev. Myung Jae Cho, to be part of the pastoral staff for 3 years. Pastor Jae led one of their satellite churches with over 5,000 members. He will be an asset to the church as we reach Canada for Jesus.

RAISING AND RELEASING SONS More sons are maturing and taking greater responsibilities. In an effort to raise the next generation of leaders, we ordained 3 new pastors: Josephine Lopez as Associate Pastor, and Mike Urbiztondo as Youth and Young Adult Pastor in our London Centre; and Josh Looy as Youth Pastor in our Brampton Centre.

CARRYING ON OUR LEGACY Our 25th anniversary celebration was well attended and a tremendous success. Through the excellent media presentations, decorations and other events, we were reminded to carry on the spiritual legacy. Thanks to all the many volunteers throughout our centres who made this event a success.

CHAMPION LIFE MOBILE APP Our very own CLC mobile app was launched last year as another tool to engage community and give access to a host of relevant information including sermon podcasts and events. We count this as a major breakthrough in our ministry as we now have the ability to give though the mobile phone and website.

There are so much more that God has done in and through us. But, we could not have accomplished these things without our dedicated pastors and leaders. I am grateful to our L5, Board members, pastors, staff, and volunteers for their diligence in serving throughout the year.

Yours in Christ,

Jerry and Elvie Berenguer

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Year 2017 was a fruitful year. We had so much activities to pick up the momentum from the previous year 2016. We started out January in partnership with MDL Immigration Services to provide a question and answer forum to help people with immigration questions. Followed by ‘All You need is love” Valentines celebration, then a ‘Café Talk’ event in February where the community was invited to participate in a talk about social and family issues. It was our first time to hold a Good Friday Presentation in April entitled “The 7 Last Words of Jesus” where we filled the house with people and 7 souls received the Lord. Mother’s and Father’s Day celebrations were well attended with members and guests. In June we had our Encounter God Retreat led by Pastor Jerry and Pastora Elvie. Which was attended by 65 members. Women’s Network held their yearly Zumba in the summer every Saturday morning; many walk-in women from the community came and joined them. One of our big community events was the LET YOUR COLOURS SHINE – Celebrating Canada’s 150th It was a successful event attended by more than 250 people. With our local MP as our guest speaker. A Public Speaking Workshop was conducted in June until July with 12 graduates. Every year we celebrate Stampede here in Calgary. We had 15 first time visitors in our celebration that Sunday. With overall 200 people that day. Again, our local MP and his wife came and helped serve lunch. Our first DVBS “Camp Out” was held in July with 23 children. With the help of our youth and their enthusiasm in leading the kids led to the smashing success of the event. In the same month we sent 3 Lead school delegates to Brampton for 1 month of training and we are blessed to see them being used by God in the ministry. August came, and we had our first Church Camp, we had a great time building relationship with the 52 members who camped with us and 4 people were water baptized.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Then we had our very first Youth Encounter in August which was attended by 23 youth. The encounter was a success as we are seeing the fruits of this event in their lives and now they are very active in inviting their friends to LP Fridays. In September, we hosted the CrossOver event in partnership with WIN Church – a Youth and Young Adults Rally where over 300 youth from all over Calgary came to the Centre to worship God. In October was the Hallelujah Night, a night of fun. We continue to equip our people and conducted Volunteer Development training in October followed by SOM classes in November. Once again, our Christmas season was a meaningful one. We partnered with the ErinWoods Community Association for their Christmas party for the children. All our Life Groups visited some institution to share the joy of Christmas. Then we held our Christmas Banquet – Champions Got Talent where all Life Groups showcased their creativity in performing onstage. We ended the year 2017 loud, festive and extravagant. We welcomed the New Year at the Centre with worship and party. For 2018, We are moving the church to connect and serve the community.

Moving the Kingdom forward, we aim to harvest more souls this year!

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. Looking back in the year 2017, I am continually amazed to see the faithfulness of God. After more than a year of restructuring, reconfiguring, reorganizing and resetting CLC Calgary, we have seen God’s righteous right hand establish us. As the ministry is on the front line of the weekly Sunday celebration and all other events, we have witnessed God’s favour as He brought new people throughout the year. With great excitement I would like to present the things that happened: A GMS Ministry Training event was conducted in the month of May, attended by 11 volunteers. This was a great time of learning the basics especially for those who are new in the ministry. We have added to the team six new members as they signed up during the J.A.M. event in October. As for the stats, here are the following: Members and Attenders 143 Youth 37 Children 39

--------- 219

Average Sunday Attendance 127 Water Baptized 4 New Members 20 The total number of people who visited the Centre reached a total of 254, these came from the events held such as the Immigration Services, Valentine’s Party, Tax Clinic, Mother & Father’s Day, Let Your Colours Shine, Stampede, Christmas Banquet, Christmas Day, New Year’s Countdown and the regular weekly celebrations. It was indeed a very busy year for the ministry given the many events that CLC Calgary hosted. We thank God for providing us the perseverance, commitment and strength to fulfill the call of service through this ministry. A big thanks to all volunteers beginning with the two coordinators, Ilaine Aquino for the Guest Relations Centre and Rhea Darines for the Guest Information Centre and all the members of the team. We could not have accomplished all of these without their labor of love. Be rest assured that, as we are all faithful to fulfill the given task in our calling, God is more than faithful to reward us all.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

The Ushering Ministry’s role in the church is to create a remarkable environment where the members and guests will feel the love of God through the volunteers. Our desire is for the members and guests to experience the love of Jesus though meaningful connections and excellent environments. The year 2017 brought about some changes in the leadership of the ministry. Initially, Pastor Jesse was undertaking the leadership until the month of May whereby the role to lead this ministry was transferred to Edgar Villavicencio. Also, in the same month, training in Ushering was conducted and was attended by most of the volunteers. During the J.A.M. there were about 20 volunteers who signed up for the year, six of them are new volunteers added to the team. Aside from the weekly schedule of the volunteers, they also assisted in the various events throughout the year such as the Immigration Services, Valentine’s party, Good Friday Event and Christmas Banquet. The year was ended with a Christmas get together held at the Villavicencio’s home where the festive mode was experienced with fun and laughter through the games and exchange of gifts amongst the volunteers. Finally, we would like to thank all the volunteers who gave their time and effort serving in this ministry. Sunday celebration will not be complete without your valued presence. Indeed, your life of commitment to serve shows us that you, the volunteers love God and the people whom you serve. Reported by Aida Espinosa in behalf of Edgar Villavicencio

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Twenty seventeen was a year of growth for the Worship and Arts Ministry as the Lord continues to establish Kingdom order in our lives. Our ministry focuses on creating an atmosphere where the people of God can worship and pursue His presence in their lives. Praise the Lord for the outpouring of His presence every time we gather to worship Him. God continues to grow our team in our passion, commitment, skills, and in numbers. In 2017, both the Worship team and Creative Arts performed “The 7 Last Words of Jesus” during the Good Friday Service. The play portrayed each words of Jesus with a variety of performances showcasing dance, drama, and music. Praise God for the response of the people and several received the Lord that day. In December during the Joyous Christmas Sunday Worship Celebration, we also performed a musical show to celebrate the Joy of Christmas. The Worship Team trainings were ongoing throughout the year to equip the new and existing members as we strive for excellence in our worship resulting in tremendous improvements in our musical skills/talents. The band implemented two groups that rotate every other week. The singers’ vocal development session moved from quarterly to monthly. We held our first Worship night in March, a night of soaking in worship and prayer. Our yearly Team building activity was held at Chestermere Lake where we had a BBQ Cook-off and a song competition as part of building relationship with one another. In October, I was privileged to join the CLC Brampton Worship Team led the worship celebration at the 25th Anniversary together with Paul Berenguer and all the Worship Directors of GTA Satellites. For 2018, we aim to go deeper into His presence through nights of corporate soaking in prayer and worship. Leading the Worship and Arts is not possible without the team of core leaders by my side who are passionate for God and serving the people in the team. To Chrisser who is heading the Band (Musicians); to David heading the Sound/Technical Art, and to Ron who led the singers’ group up to the 3rd quarter of the year and handed the role to Diosa the remaining of 2017. Thank you Core leads! To all the members of the Worship and Arts Ministry my heartfelt thanks for your commitment and passion in serving God with all your heart. Be blessed in all that you do as you live a life of worship.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Hello everyone, I am overjoyed to report to you the activities of Champion Kidz in the year 2017. Currently Champion Kidz is operating with the help of 22 dedicated volunteers. The attendance last year averaged to around 27 kids. In the goal of setting up order to this ministry we have reorganized and appointed Jen Estorioso and Sonia Benedicto to handle the nursery and the main elementary aged group handled by these key people Crystal Nicole, Reika Enjambre, Jen Reyes, Ilaine Aquino, Rhea Darines, and Eunice Carnecer. Champion Kidz had a busy year last 2017. We had our Easter Celebration called Sundae Sunday where we had an Easter curriculum that ran for four weeks prior to Easter Sunday. On Easter Day we celebrated with ice cream sundaes which obviously was well received treat by our kids. A first for Champion Kidz here in Calgary with the help of our youth from LP last July was a weekend VBS called Camp Out. We brought an outdoor activity indoor - camping. We did an actual camp site at our youth hall which was attended by 28 kids. Another successful and hilarious event that we organized was our One For All and All For One Hallelujah Night with a twist. What was the twist? The dress up was by group. The attendance was around 55 people. Last but not the least, last Christmas, Champion Kidz did a nativity story in our Joyous Christmas event. It was a very well-done performance by our kids.

Thank you for listening and helping us raise champions out of our kids here at CLC Calgary.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Living Proof YYC is the vibrant youth group of Champion Life Centre Calgary ranging from 12-18 years old, we gather every Friday night at the Centre in the Youth Hall from 7:30pm - 9:30pm. From March 2017 up to February 2018, we had 23 LP Fridays in total with an average attendance of 21 youth. It is good to note that our events usually have higher attendance than our typical LP Fridays. However, these events are our way of inviting more people in to come to our normal LP Fridays. Also, this past July, we sent 3 of our leaders to LEAD School in Brampton, where they got equipped to really walk as a true son, with Kingdom Mindset, Kingdom Vision, and Kingdom Mentality and walk like Jesus. In 2017 we started to do more themed months, each month we had a theme in which our speakers would preach from, for example, in July we did Passion, where Christian talked about Passion in the Godly way etc. We had 23 LP Fridays, where we learned about the Word of God, and starting worship in each Friday night with some of our next generation leaders. In our 20 events, it included WIN’s annual Crossover which we hosted again, Champion Kidz VBS Camp Out which we gladly lend hands to, our Hallelujah Night which we themed Circus, 2 Cook-offs, and our Christmas Party, which was all about our youth, where we handed out awards to our most consistent members and etc. This 2018 we will be focusing more on feeding our youth the meat and less of events, as we plan to have 1 event each month rather than the 2 that we were averaging the past year. We also started our alpha series to begin the new year, with this we want our youth to have a deeper understanding of Jesus and how to walk with God as a Son and Daughter, in this world. Our vision for this year is to grow our current members and at the same time have events and opportunities for them to bring their friends in to LP to receive the seed that we plant to each and every one of our youth. With that in-mind we want to focus on our Next-Gen leaders, as Christian has dubbed it, and help them grow and really take ownership of Living Proof Calgary.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

From the initial 15 young adults who started the Impulse young adult network in September of 2016, the network held its kickoff event in January of last year and carried through the rest of 2017. Ranging from indoor activities to outdoor activities, the network has managed to gather, connect, and keep the young adults in the circle distributing invites or new members to different Life Groups at CLC Calgary. The network has produced core leaders to lead other networks through the Join A Ministry/Network in September of 2017 and remained as associates in the Impulse Young Adult network. The network went through reorganization of its core leads after the new rule was implemented in September 2017. As a result, the network is left with five outstanding young adults leading the event planning and activities of the network. In addition, the network is blessed with 12 signees during the Join A Ministry/Network event last September. A few renewals, new invites from Life Groups and some youth crossing over to young adulthood. The network coordinated its first church event in collaboration with other networks and ministries on the New Year’s Countdown with our young adults in the circle leading the frontline. All the glory belongs to God for the successful event. Currently, the network aims to incorporate the vision of Champion Life Centre in gathering and connecting with the young adults at the Centre through the network’s programs.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Women’s Network is to empower women in various stages of their lives that are seeking personal and spiritual growth. To help every woman feel loved, accepted, encouraged and equipped to pursue a passionate and deep relationship with Jesus Christ. To respond with gratitude to what Jesus Christ have blessed us in so many ways by serving others in love. For the year 2017, In April, we had Women’s Movie Night May. It is essential to meet women’s interests and to establish a meaningful relationship not only inside church but also outside church, just like a family. As bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 so I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God. In June, we celebrated Father’s Day and gave tribute to all dads in the house. A godly father delights in loves, corrects, instructs, disciplines, provides for, leads and contributes a legacy to his children. It is for any one or all of these attributes that we honor our courageous fathers. Proverbs 20:7: “The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him. Last event we had in 2017 was Zumba, it started in June until September. This was to encourage every woman in the community to get involved and to achieve their best health. To fulfill their practical and spiritual obligations. Health is wealth, so we have to encourage women to take part on physical activity as this is an asset to her family and to God as we serve Him. 3 John 1:2 as the theme for this principle: "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well" (NIV). This 2018 I’m looking forward to creating new events and hoping more women will get involve as we all work in the Kingdom of God and to be equipped as a shining example of God’s love and genuine connection with every woman in CLC.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Men’s Network started in September 2016 and named it Awesome Men of God because we serve an awesome God. Our vision, is to unite, to act as one, to give glory to God and be a role model to our children. As we promised, 2017 was a successful year for us men. We created a place for men from all walks of life to learn and teach in a safe, respectful, challenging, and inclusive peer-network. In January 28th we had Men’s Lunch get together. This is to connect men with opportunities to fellowship, encourage one another and develop Godly character. We had fun on games, getting to know each other and influence their life for Jesus Christ. May 14Th we celebrated Mother’s Day with our theme “Lady in Red”. This was a very special event to honor, recognize and serve moms. We had special presentation from all ministries and networks and men serenated to our lovely moms in the house. There were more than 140 people attended the event and it was a successful one because awesome men of God have showed their love, teamwork and working altogether for the Kingdom of God. October 6th Men’s Bowling, a time to enjoy life not only inside congregation but also outside. This is a time to build relationship and encourage everyone to strengthen the brotherhood in Christ. And lastly, we had a successful Sportacular on November 24th. There were youth, kids, women and men who came and enjoyed our night of sports event. We as Awesome Men we promised that we can stretch our muscles to help event prep like set up / down our sanctuary, banquet halls. With these, we are always ready to help CLC members on moving where we did to one CLC family last year. Also, we did some trades work for our center upgrading our sanctuary stage by doing some painting, carpentry, etc. I would like to thank all Awesome Men of God in the house who have showed their God given talent and took time to help our congregation from cleaning, painting and even photography every time they need in any occasion. Men’s Network seeks to encourage men’s to be equipped, energize, fellowship and to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:17 “The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Blessings in Christ! I am excited to report what has Family Life Network has done this past year. First and foremost, Family Life Services is a new ` network here in CLC Calgary, which was created to promote the development of Family Life and relationship according to God’s word. It focuses on planning & developing exceptional family events in order to promote interaction, openness & relationship within family members. I am privileged to have had a pleasure to work with a great and talented team. The year 2017 was an exciting year for us as we launched the network with our very first event, CLC’s Valentine’s Banquet, entitled, “All You Need Is Love”. It happened on February 11, 2017 and was well attended with 145 members & guests. It was a memorable event for CLC as Family Life Network went beyond the conventional way of celebrating Valentine’s Day by opening the event not only for couples but also for the whole family. We have given the people a new perspective on how to choose to celebrate love. Another event that we hosted last year was the Family Camp, held in August at Kamp Kiwanis, with a theme, “Building Memories Together”. And indeed, we have certainly built beautiful memories, not only with our immediate family, but also with our church family. The 2-nights getaway was truly something to be treasured as the 58 attendees got to know each other in a much deeper sense. Sharing meals together, exchanging stories around a bonfire, joining activities like playing games, hiking, swimming & morning exercises were just some of the exciting things we did that summer. One of the highlights of our family camp was the water baptism. There were 4 people who have professed their faith in Christ. It was really a memory well built by people with the same faith in Christ. The end part of our 2017 was an amazing one as we hosted the grand Christmas Banquet, entitled, “Champions Got Talent”. And as what the title says, it was a night of talents displayed and camaraderie at its best as the Life Groups showcased their creativity in performing onstage with a Christmas theme presentation. 145 members & guests attended the event. It was a night to remember for everyone as they compete, in a friendly & healthy way, to win gifts & cash prizes! It was, indeed, a successful year for the first year of Family Life Network. And I would like to commend all the members for their generosity in giving their time & commitment in our cause. Let us all continue to serve the Lord as we journey together as one family in Christ.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

Twenty seventeen was a great year for the Community Outreach Network. We continue our goal to connect to the community to provide services and programs that will cater to the diverse cultures of Calgary. Through the programs and events that we had, CLC’s presence became known to the community not only as a church but an institution that supports the people of Calgary. CLC made an impact to people of all walks of life. The following are the highlights of events we had, and we can say that for our second year, we have made a big difference in the community. First was the Immigration Services wherein we partnered with Maria De Luna Immigration Services. It was attended by almost 100 people. The topics included procedures in becoming Permanent Residents of Canada, sponsorships, working temporary workers and so forth. Then we have the Café Talk hosted by TFCC or The Filipino Champions of Canada. There were speakers who shared about family, relationship, work and the community. Our very own Ptr Jesse Carnecer was included as one of the key persons who shared about family. Last April, we had a one-day event that catered to the needs of the people regarding their taxes. The Tax Clinic was held at CLC Hall 2nd Floor for free for everyone who wanted to file their taxes. We were all grateful for all the volunteers. As Canada celebrates its 150th year, CLC was proud to host the “Let Your Colours Shine” event for the diverse culture of Calgary. We had the parade of nations attended by people from different countries wearing their National Attire. The participants marched at the main hall as they shine in their beautiful elegant dresses. The Member Parliament of Shephard, Tom Kmiec was our honorary guest speaker and he shared a message about Canada’s history. After the parade, everyone had a great fill tasting the different foods sponsored by the Life Groups together with representatives from several different countries. Two Filipino restaurants also joined us offering the guests with a taste of Filipino food. It was a very successful event and it was attended by more or less 250 people. Calgary is known as one of the largest festivals in Canada which is the Stampede. And with this, we also took part in this celebration every year to reach out to Erin Woods Community wherein CLC is located and to other nearby communities. We served the people free food, had some games and live band.

2018 STATE OF THE CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT

As we end the year, we partnered with the Erin Woods Community for the Christmas party for the children. CLC participated by giving bag of treats and making animal balloons. We were able to reach out to at least 60 kids with their parents. Again, with all these wonderful activities, we were able to build connections to the community. Outreach is our vehicle to fulfill the great commission. This is essential to reach the world for Christ. It follows the model that Christ left for us in meeting the needs of the people. For 2018, we are moving the church again to better connect and serve the community. More exciting events and programs are in store for the people of Calgary. The Community Outreach Network has a unique way of touching the lives of others. Let’s bless the world! Romans 12:11 “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
