SoCal 8’s Seven of the Nine Members Ready for “The Tour”

oCal 8’s attended the 1st Temecula

Wine Tour June 23-24 with a small but close group of members. Our attendance was 17 persons throughout the weekend events. With 8 of us making the drive on Sunday.

Our first stop was the Briar Rose Winery where we received a wine tasting lecture before undertaking the tour.

The Briar Rose was built by a Engineer who work for Disney Imagineering and has a copy of Sleeping Beauty’s cottage as one of the buildings hence the name originated from.

They had a great selection of their matured signature wines to taste.

It was a winery that most did not wish to leave.

We were given wine menus at every winery we stopped at. Unlike other wineries the

winery here served their matured wines and some of their best vintage.

Leonesse Cellars just a few miles from the Briar Rose were we had Andrew waiting for our arrival to give us a personal walking tour of the winery fields and a special tour of their

Wine Barrel Room and production. Access is only available by prior reservation.

Oh yes and more wine tasting. What a great cool place

to taste wine at 62 degrees inside and 92 outside. It was a good place to be a get out of the sun. We started with the red’s then move to the white

wines.

We had a special area set up for us.

Third Stop Masia de Yarba Winery a private home of a Peruvian raised in Argentina who

turned it into a fabulous wine tasting room high on a hillside overlooking the Temecula valley.

By this time everyone was hungry so we ate before tasting more wine avoiding getting tipsy in the process. We had our catered luncheon reserved for us in their patio, where a warm lunch of beef, chicken, and vegetable shish kabob over a bed of special rice was served.

Along with the great wine came live music while we ate.

Our final stop will be at the Miramonte Winery just off Rancho California Rd.

where a relaxing atmosphere welcomed us to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine while viewing the valley below. Later other returned to the Resort, some went home to rest before dinner while Grace and I stayed to listen to a jazz treo.

By this time after much wine

tasting, most were welcoming just to sit and relax in the shady patio while the misters were

on.

We held our Dinner in the patio area reserved for us at Soro’s Mediterranean Grill where we were

served a special 3 chores menu starting with a Creaser Salad with Waleed’s Pita Chips, Mediterranean Pita bread with Humus, a choice of Soro’s Beef Tenderloin over a bed rice, Soro’s Chicken Picata over linguini pasta, and a Grilled Norwegian Salmon over rice dish. It was something to please everyone's pallets'. For dessert we were served a rainbow Sorbet chilled in a martini glass. Along with the dinner we opened several bottles of wine the members purchased while on the tour.

Dinner started at 7:30 PM and before we knew it was almost 11:00 PM. How time passes when your having a great time with friends…..oh yes and lots of wine.

We were surprised by Jim Straley the Service Director from SAVAGE BMW who passed out a great selection of goodies to each and every person in attendance at the dinner.

Jim and his wife Jackie were there with Peter Savage Red 1991 850i which has been restored.

On Sunday June 24th 7 of the 9 eight owners gathered for the 35 mile drive through the back roads from Fallbrook to Old Town Temecula. What a great drive it was. Good roads for most of the way especially for those of us who’s cars are a bit lower. A lot of curves and winding roads with some stretches of straight runs but not many. By the end of the run your arms surly felt it.

Although we were a small group for this first Wine Tour we had a wonderful time and the people who attended made it a success.
