    SITE COORDINATOR

    Period of Employment Summer 2012 (Start date May September 28th) (Candidates will be notified of any modifications to employment period.)

    Contract Employment Work Hours 40 Hours per week Tues. 9 a.m. 5 p.m. Wednesday Saturday 3:30 p.m. Midnight

    Pay Rate $15.00 per hour

    Program Overview The Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) Program is a comprehensive gang violence

    reduction program.

    The

    GRYD

    office

    aims

    to

    effectively

    reduce

    gang

    related

    violence

    in

    specific

    geographic regions through the application of primary prevention, secondary prevention, and intervention strategies.

    The Summer Night Lights (SNL) program is one component of the GRYD comprehensive strategy. SNL integrates prevention, intervention, and community engagement components to address violence in neighborhoods adjacent to parks across the city; through the provision of extended late night programming between the hours of 7 p.m. to midnight, 4 days a week, through the summer months.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Previous work experience with SNL and/or have completed their Bachelors Degree or Degree in human services related field and/or a minimum of two years of professional work experience in a related position. Flexible Fulltime availability from June to September;

    Strong Leadership, Management, Communication, organizational, administrative and time management skills;

    Ability to work with diverse populations, problem solve, and work in a collaborative manner;

    Ability to be flexible and manage high stress situations in a calm and effective manner; Ability to work as part of a team that includes youth, city departments, community

    organizations, community peacemakers, and law enforcement; Must have a valid drivers license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation for program related travel (position is eligible for mileage reimbursement);

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and daily access to personal email account. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and carry a minimum of 15 lbs.

    Duties Responsibilities:

    Assist SNL Regional Managers with all aspects of SNL program service delivery including but not limited

    to; Responsible for the management of SNL site location, which includes program and

    logistical implementation policies, partnerships, as well as supervision and support of SNL seasonal site coordination team members. (Youth Squad Supervisor, Community Outreach Specialist, Lead Youth Squad, and Youth Squad);

    Assess individual, group, family, and community participation and develop plans to increase/maintain participation;

    Lead or assist in the development and facilitation of SNL Work Group; Collaborate and communicate effectively with GRYD staff members as well as a variety

    of SNL partners that include law enforcement, city departments, local government

    officials, and community based organizations. Attend various meetings including GRYD/SNL meetings, Site Staff meetings, Regional

    SNL Site meetings and Work Group meetings; Assist in the daily set up and break down of program activities and equipment, which

    requires manual, labor intensive work. Assist in developing and implementing an outreach plan to inform local community

    residents about the SNL program.
