This new range of Stationary Alkaline Battery Ideally suited and specially designed for both SOLAR power plants and in WIND energy generation installations, is the natural result of the wide outstanding results acquired in the Pocket Plate Technology over some 100 years of practical experience and consequence of our product development efforts. The tough and exigent technical, performance and quality requirements set for the photovoltaic and wind energy generation plants, makes the SNC Range of Alkaline NiCd battery to be the, undoubtfully, best choice when an absolutely reliable stored energy system that offers unique operation characteristics at an extremely low, practically un-existing, maintenance is demanded that can be installed in areas, locations, and under climatic and weather conditions no other battery system can work at all.

Maintenance of NiCd batteries is limited to cleaning and visual inspection. Water topping-up is just
occasional and made at very long intervals.
Operation at High Temperatures
High Ambient or operation temperature dramatically reduces the life expectancy of a lead-acid battery.
50% of the battery’s life is reduced for every 10ºC of increase.
Life time reduction due to high temperatures is reduced in the case of NiCd batteries to only 20% of lifetime loss for every 10ºC of temperature increase.
Low Temperature Operation
Operation at low temperatures can lead to physical damages in the plates with the natural result that both performance and capacity but also the life
expectancy are drastically reduced
NiCd batteries can be operated at temperatures as low as -30ºC without suffering damages.
Electrical Abuse
VRLA batteries do not tolerate ripple at all. A general important defect of lead-acid batteries is that they cannot recover from over discharge. Additionally, overcharging does also cause severe damages to
the battery
NiCd batteries are quite tolerant to ripple effects and, in addition they do not result damaged by neither over
charge nor over discharge.
Mechanical Abuse Vibration is quite dangerous for the unstable and
fragile material composition of the lead acid batteries. The transparent SAN containers used for
OPzS and OGi type batteries are also fragile
The sold and robust internal construction of the NiCdc cells make them to be highly resistant to both
vibration and shocks. Polypropylene containers used for the NICd batteries are also vibration, impact and
shock resistant.
