SNB recognizes outstanding teaching at Wayne State College through the SNB Teaching Excellence Award.  David Ley, the bank’s chairman of the board, established the award in 1998 as a way of recognizing and strengthening outstanding teaching at Wayne State.   This prestigious honor is awarded on the basis of rigorous standards that require a superior level of effective teaching.  Recipients are recognized during spring commencement at WSC and receive a gift of $1,200 from SNB. This year’s recipient was Don Buryanek, who also retired after 30 years of teaching at WSC.

The Wayne Farmers Market had their opening on June 5, 4-6pm on Lincoln Street on the west side of the Courthouse. The market hours will be Wednesdays from 4-6pm and Saturdays from 9am until noon. The market season will run through mid-October.

Why won’t the Century Club be providing water bottles on trips anymore?

Recently on one of the Century Club trips we announced that we will no longer be providing water bottles for our guests. We will have water coolers and biodegradable cups available for anyone who wants water. We encourage our travelers to bring their own reusable beverage containers. Our decision to not provide plastic water bottles is only a small step but we believe it may increase some awareness of a growing world problem…too much plastic polluting the planet.
