Anchor University Mission Statement

The  mission  of  Anchor  University  is  to  ensure  that  Russell  County  High  School’s  highest  achieving  students  are  receiving  the  most  benefit  from  the  education  process  by  providing  them  with  an  innovative  pathway  to  accelerate  their  learning  opportunities.  This  will  ensure  that  our  highest  achieving  students  will  have  the  opportunity  to  earn  college  credit  while  still  being  a  part  of  Russell  County  High  School.  

Anchor University Admissions Criteria

• €Senior  student  at  Russell  County  High  School   ���

• €ACT  Benchmarks  met  by  March  of  Junior  Year   ���

• €Cumulative  GPA  of  3.7   ���

• €Provide  their  own  transportation  (working  with  district  to  fund  transportation  if  transportation   ���is  a  barrier  for  participation)   ���

• €Assume  responsibility  of  all  costs  associated  with  the  program  including  fees,  book  costs,  tuition,   ���etc.  (Mary  Jo  Young  Scholarship,  district  funding  if  necessary,  YSC  funding  if  necessary)   ���

• €Attend  an  orientation  meeting  hosted  by  Russell  County  High  School   ���

• €Sign  Anchor University contract ���Anchor University Program Requirements ���During  the  student’s  participation  in  Anchor  University,  he/she  must...   ���

RUSSELL COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL   • €Take  a  minimum  of  FIVE  courses  for  the  year  (this  is  a  requirement  to  earn  

KEES  money)   ���

• €Take  a  minimum  of  TWO  college  courses  EACH  semester   ���

• €Take  a  maximum  of  FIVE  college  courses  EACH  semester   ���

• €Complete  all  Russell  County  High  School  graduation  requirements   ���

• €Be  present  at  all  Russell  County  High  School  mandated  testing  OR  mandated  senior-­‐related  activities   ���

• €Comply  with  the  attendance  policy  of  Russell  County  High  School  AND  the  post-­‐secondary  institution.   ���

• €Report  mid-­‐term  grades  to  Russell  County  High  School  ���

• €Report  final  grades  at  end  of  each  semester  to  Russell  County  High  School   ���

• €Communicate  with  leader  of  the  Anchor  University  (through  Remind  101,  email,  texts,  etc.)   ���Other Information ���

• €Students  will  be  awarded  credit  at  Russell  County  High  School  on  a  Performance  Based  Credit  System  ���

• €ALL  courses  will  affect  the  student’s  high  school  GPA   ���
