The photo below shows typical plant vegetation inside the Smuggler's Notch Living Machine greenhouse. These plants are used to help treat up to 40,000 gallons per day of wastewater from the village area of the resort. These plants bloom at other times of the year.

Another photo of the vegetation of the Living Machine. The plants take up nutrients from wastewater circulating in the tank, aiding in the treatment of wastewater generated in the village area of Smuggler’s Notch.

Wastewater from the village area of Smuggler's Notch undergoes treatment before being pumped up to the upper aerated lagoon for further treatment. This lagoon is covered due to its close proximity to the village area.
