Toronto, Ontario, Canada – April 16, 2016 SMPTE Toronto Section announces Boot Camp VII Technical Seminar: “PIXELS & PACKETS – Exploring UHD, HDR and Live IP” in Toronto on June 21 and 22, 2016. The Toronto Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is pleased to announce that they will be holding their very popular Boot Camp Technical Seminar. This will be the Section’s 20th Technical Seminar, and the two day event will bring together Canada’s largest technical audience of media technology professionals and industry experts under a common educational theme. Scheduled for June 21 and 22, 2016 and held at Ryerson University in Toronto, this year’s topical umbrella is “PIXELS & PACKETS – Exploring UHD, HDR and Live IP”. Within this arena, presenters will explore new and evolving methods and technologies related to media acquisition, production, presentation and distribution in the professional television, cinema and new media industries. This event represents a tremendous training and networking opportunity for Canada’s engineering and production community, who work at the heart of the nation’s 17 billion dollar Television, Cinema and Media industries. As in the past, it is organized and operated by volunteers from SMPTE’s Toronto Section, with a non-commercial editorial process at the heart of its paper selection process. The previous six Boot Camps have been well attended, with audiences in excess of 100 attendees. As in past years, this year’s Boot Camp will feature top tier Keynote speakers, a comfortable and intimate industry tradeshow, and technology demonstrations. The event will kick off the evening of Monday June 20th, with a Toronto Section combined BBQ and UHD Mobile Studio Tour.

Attending: The event is open to SMPTE members and non-members. This year’s event will include two catered lunches, coffee breaks, conference bag, and access to papers presented at the conference. For more details please go to: www.smpte.org/sections/toronto/events/boot-camp-vii.
