ANNUAL CHURCH PROFILE

As fall arrives, so does the task of completing the Annual Church Profile (ACP). This year the Smoky Hill Baptist Association is hoping for a 100% participation from our member churches. The ACPs have been mailed to each church. What is the value of the ACP to the church? The reported numbers provide an annual snapshot of the impact Southern Baptists are making through their local churches in penetrating their communities with the Gospel. The ACP gives pastors an annual “report card” to give themselves a clearer picture of where they are. The ACP gives real, clear information that helps the local pastor to make changes in programming, staffing, and budgeting that better reflects where they want to go. The ACP establishes “annual accountability” and gives independent credibility to financial institutions when the church may need to borrow money for construction. Should you need assistance completing the ACP please call Nate Butler at 785-307-8160 or Heather Carder at 785-289-6749.

MESSENGERS TO THE ASSOCIATION MEETINGS

Questions often arise about the number of messengers each church can send to the Association Leadership Team Meetings which are held in November and April. According to the Constitution and By-Laws of the Smoky Hill Baptist Association, each church accepted into the membership of this Association may send members to the annual meeting of the association in accordance with this constitution. The pastor of each church and mission will be seated as a mes-senger from his church. Each church shall be entitled to two (2) messengers in addition to the pastor. The answer to the question is that each church can have up to three voting messengers, the pastor and two additional messengers from the church. All are welcome to our semi-annual Leadership Team Meetings scheduled for November and April. Join us for our next meeting November 7, 7:00 P.M., at Christ The Lord Community Church, Salina.

PRAYERS/NEEDS

1 John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask any-thing according to his will, he hears us.” Psalm 17:6 “I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.” 1 Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.”

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.”

budget time approaches, may I be bold and ask you to consid-er increasing your support to

the Association by 1%. If you have been unable to give this past year, may I encourage you to start giving once again. Your support of the Association helps to provide not only for salaries and administration costs, it also allows us to help churches with their needs such as: renting a moving truck for a new pastor; assisting pastors financially; purchasing supplies for the party trailer; providing scholarships for short-term

shooting, the giant inflatable slide, and the food. Additionally, your pastor’s and ministry staff’s wives were treated to a one-hour spa event. During the meal, we collected an offering of more t han $800 for mi ss ions scholarships. I must take a mo-ment to thank all the volunteers who helped setup and take down the meal, and oversee the slide, zipline, knocker balls, and skeet range. Without your volunteer service, the event wouldn’t hap-

pen. I also want to thank those who prepared the food: Ran-dall Brown for his fried catfish,

Fatboy Heaven owners Stan and Pam Black for the burgers, beans and cole slaw, and Pam Flores for baking twenty of her pies. I must also thank Mari Parker for representing the Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists, and the band from First Southern Baptist Church, Salina, under the direction of Fred Schweer. As an Association of churches, “We Are Better Together.” As

missionaries; purchasing books for each of our pastors; assisting with the cost

of a site license to show movies; financial support for a church needing to rebuild their parsonage after a fire; paying for the annual picnic and ce lebrat ion; and providing printed material for pastor search committees. With more we can do more. Together we can reach our communities. Because He Lives, Nate Butler

EXCITING TIMES FOR OUR CHURCHES CrossPoint Lindsborg Renovations: “Hello brothers and sisters of the Smoky Hill Baptist Association. Our CrossPoint Lindsborg church family is continuing to grow. One topic we'd like to celebrate with you is our CrossPoint Kids ministry expansion. At the start of our church plant, we began meeting in a recep-tion space. It was simply a large room with no offices or separate rooms. About 18 months ago, God provided the resources for us to build two CrossPoint (CP) Kids ministry rooms for us to minister to children and parents more effectively. Today, the rooms are full most Sundays and we need two more rooms built to keep up with the pace of ministry. We are making plans to expand in our building by adding space in October. The glory goes to God for the consistent growth in our church. I believe he is using our tremendous volunteers to make this growth happen. Our CP Kids team meets together every month after a service for ongoing training by our CP Kids Director, Amy Robinson. The team shares a meal together, prays for the ministry, and discusses methods for improvement. I write this exciting update about our CP Kids ministry expan-sion simply as a messenger. God is growing the church within our Association and it's a blessing to labor alongside you for the sake of the gospel.” Payte Johnson, Campus Pastor

CrossPoint Church Lindsborg I Corinthians 3:11 “For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

New Hope Community Church Property Purchase: The property we have under contract is truly a blessing from God. The property we are purchasing is on Tuttle Creek Blvd, and is located along the second busiest point in Manhattan. Nearly 30,000 cars pass by there everyday. It is close to the university, and is near the center of town so it is easily accessed for reaching Manhattan. The remarkable part about it all is that the property is worth around $9-10 per square foot and we got it for around $2 per square foot. We offered them what we could afford, which is obviously way below its value. We fasted and prayed as a church for 3 weeks and the bank agreed!!! Closing is on November 30. It will be the place of the first church building for New Hope which started 31 years ago coming out of College Heights. We are very excited to see how God provided this blessing to us, but we realize that with every blessing from God He desires us to be a blessing. We are eager to see how we will be. Dick Jaques, Senior Pastor

New Hope Church Manhattan Acts 9:31 “So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spir-it, it continued to increase.”

EXCITING TIMES FOR OUR CHURCHES CrossPoint Church Concordia: For the past 6 1/2 years CrossPoint church in Concordia, Kansas, has operated out of temporary rented facilities. We started out in the Holiday Inn conference room, and for the last 4 years we have been renting the local movie theater every Sunday morning. Last December, a local Foursquare congregation decided to close their facilities in Concordia, and we were able to negotiate a lease to own option with them. We are really excited to have our own facility full-time now. We feel like the shackles have been taken off and we are free to finally be involved in ministry throughout the week. Most notably we have started a Sunday evening Bible study for junior high through adults. We can testify that buildings are not the answer to all the problems churches face but we have noticed a shift in attitude towards the church in our community as we now have our own place to call home. It is exciting to see what God has done through this congregation for the last 6 1/2 years and we are anxious to see what he does with us in the future. Mathew Carder, Campus Pastor

CrossPoint Church, Concordia 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.”

CrossPoint Church Salina: CrossPoint Salina is excited to announce the purchase of new facilities in Salina (621 Westport Blvd). God has grown us spiritually and numerically over the last 9 years so after planning for the last couple of years, we have recently purchased a larger facility. CrossPoint’s vision is to reach 10% of the state of Kansas with the gospel and 10% of every city we are in. That’s a HUGE task so we are thankful that God has provided this facility as a tool to be used for His ministry. The building is bigger than we need so the plans are to use some of the space to bless our city via renting it out or by using it for various ministries that can occupy the space. We are still in the beginning stages of planning for the remodel but we praise God that the building is fully paid for! As we look to the future ministry of CrossPoint this building will be valuable in providing ministry to not only our city, but the truck drivers and travelers along 135. We also hope to use it as a training center for church planters, worship leaders, and other ministry leaders so we can plant churches all around central Kansas. We can’t wait to see what God will do next! Join us in prayer as we seek to preach the gospel and makes disciples of Jesus. Ryan Booth, Campus Pastor
