Find a Smile Experiment

Concept
We placed red smiley stickers all throughout the New School buildings
Created a blog with instructions on what to do if you see one of these smiley stickers.
Put up posters with the blog website
We wanted to see if people take notice of the many stickers strewn about the campus and if they would interact with, take pictures of, or talk about the smiley stickers.
See if the trend would catch
PrecedentsOur original idea came from Disney’s “Hidden
Mickeys”
Turned into more of a scavenger hunt
MethodologyOur main way of spreading the idea was mostly
word of mouth.
We used a blog to post pictures of our own and describe what should be done once a smiley was found. http://smileexperiment.blogspot.com/
A Twitter was also made in order to get the word out. http://twitter.com/Smileexperiment
PrototypeThe prototype we created was pretty much the
posting of our own pictures and interactions with the stickers. We posted on the blog in order to encourage others to participate and add pictures of their own.
ConclusionOur experiment didn’t really get the chance to
take off. All the posters and stickers kept being taken down, with the exception of a few. Therefore, not as many people got to see the stickers as we would have liked.
