SMIC–Now DMS Introduction
Preface:
This document is mainly to provide the following information to our valued customers:
(a) The overview of the SMIC-Now DMS (Document Management System);
(b) How to find document;
(c) How to download document;
(d) How to request IP document;
(e) How to assign download permission;
(e) How to search request/download history.
If you are new user to SMIC-Now DMS, we strongly recommend you to spend some time to read through
this online help. The information disclosed in it will help you to get familiar with DMS more quickly.
Overview
System login
SMIC-Now DMS (Document Management System) is provided to customer users to view, apply and
download documents that SMIC publishes. After logging in SMIC-Now, customer users can click link
<SMIC Documents & PDK> in module ‘Sales & Marketing’ to go to online document service.
Once customer users log in the interface, main page will show SMIC announcement on document
confidentiality and proprietary. Please read it carefully before searching document.
Layout of the Interface
In DMS interface, besides menus on the top, the main page is divided into 3 areas:
(a) Document category tree: located on the left side of the page, where lists the document category
tree.
(b) “Tech Document” Display Area: After clicking on the “Tech Document” tab, document list
corresponded to the selected tech node in the document category tree will be shown
(c) “IP” Display Area: After clicking on the “IP” tab, IP list corresponded to the selected tech node in
the document category tree will be shown
(d) “IP readiness summary report” file:the overall IP readiness corresponded to the selected tech
node in the document category tree will be shown
(e) Document Search: located at the top main-menu area, where provides document search function.
How to find document
Document category tree
Firstly find the technology node on the tree, and then confirm the technology platform.
<Description of product type & characterization> shows detail description of product type & special
characterization.
Search documents
Search by key index, like technology node, technology type, characterization, Core or IO voltage,
document No., document title or effective date, and so on.
How to download document
Signification of Icons
There are six kinds of icons to identify Action & Status for each document, and their meanings are as
following:
Document Download Permission Assign flow
Since document download permission is controlled, it needs an authorization procedure if customer user
applies for it. The approval flow as below:
1. For customer admin user: SMIC Sales can assign the document category download permission.
2. For customer sub user: firstly, customer admin user needs to sign off the request; if admin user has
document download permission already, then after he/she approves, sub user can download the file,
otherwise, the request will go to SMIC Sales. After Sales approves, both customer admin user and sub user
can download the file.
How to request IP document

Select “Application” -> Sort the arrangement of IP codes by “IP Category”, “IP Provider”, “IP Code” and/or
“Gradation” if necessary -> Select the IP code(s) desired -> either download by “FTP release list” or
online document download

How to assign download permission

a) Customer admin user’s function:
On SMIC-Now main page, please enter “User Management” module, and use function ‘Assign
Categories’ to assign document download permission on document category tree as below.
b) SMIC Sales’ function:
In SMIC-Now CRM platform, please use function ‘Assigned Categories’ to assign document download
permission on document category tree as below.

If customer sub user applies for document download permission, the request will firstly go to customer admin
user. Customer admin user will receive mail notification about request and then he/she can view request case
on “To-Do” list in DMS.
Click <Request No> will go to the sign off page.
