Siemens Management Consulting was established in April 1996 as the strategy consulting unit of Siemens. This move represented uncharted territory for Siemens, as the con-cept of “internal consulting” had never been explored before, neither within Siemens nor at other corporations. SMC pursued a two-fold mission from the outset. The first was to provide the best possible support to Siemens through first-class strategy consulting services.
