MULTIMEDIA AND DESIGN PRINCIPLES COMPATIBLE WITH SMART PEN

• MODALITY PRINCIPLE (Mayer, R. 200):

- Students learn more deeply from a multimedia message when the words are spoken than when they are written.

- Smart pen “speaks” or reproduces the words recorded by it, from Modality principle, language learners can easily learn a new language.

SEGMENTING PRINCIPLE (MAYER, R., 2005)

- Learners/students assimilate more deeply through multimedia when the content is give in segments than in one long session without interruption.

- Smartpen can help language learners or students to replay the content in sessions according to their cognitive capacity.

NATURAL DESIGN PRINCIPLE

(NORMA, D., 2002).

- The natural principle states that the product must easily be recognizable without interpretation. Smartpen is easily recognizable as a pen as well as a special pen.

- Natural visibility. Smart pen displays its nature as a pen.

POSITIVE AFFECT PRINCIPLE (NORMAN, D., 2004)

STUDENTS / USERS’ REVIEWhttp://www.nytimes.com (2007 / 2008 / 2010)

What do they say about Smartpen?

August 19, 2008 nytimes article from a high school student:

Satisfied because:- Easy to use.- The amount of gigabytes of storage 4 to 8.- Easy to set up the data and time.- While you take notes the paper replay allows to record the lecture.

- Smartpen does not distract anyone as laptop does…

Complains:- You have to buy some additional applications- Gigabytes are note enough…
