CO - lOCAtEdMayor’s Conclave & Leadership SummitMayor's Conclave, a dynamic and exciting business programme for industry and government, engaged multiple stakeholders to address the needs of urban sustainability. Both industry and city leaders / mayors (national and international) discussed diverse topics such as best practices in urban policy innovation, how to encourage collaboration, boost investments, and offer lucrative business opportunities. The focus of the Mayor's Conclave was to improve collaboration between cities and businesses. Cities need private sector involvement to address their urban challenges, improve efficiency and implement innovative solutions. Businesses, meanwhile, can benefit from a better understanding of cities' needs, and gain access to entirely new and lucrative markets. Through the Mayor's Conclave & Leadership Summit, local governments and businesses will have the opportunity to work together in solving urban challenges. The key objectives met during the conclave included:
lConnecting local government and businesses to work together for solving urban challenges
lImproving efficiency in implementing innovative solutions
l Knowledge sharing and exchanging of ideas to explore new approaches in addressing city challenges
lCreating opportunities for government, businesses and citizens, etc. Over 50 distinguished guests (Mayors, Commissioners, SPV CEOS, etc.) attended the conclave from various cities including Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Greater Hyderabad, Mangaluru, Nagpur, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Shimla, Surat, Vadodara, etc.

68% of India continues to live in rural areas, and the contribution to GDP from agriculture and allied services has reduced from 52% in 1950 to 14% in 2013. While 50% of the overall labour force is still dependant on agriculture, this inadequacy is not sustainable. 26% of rural India is poor compared to 14% in urban areas. Rural literacy rates are significantly lower than the urban literacy rates. A fall in net attendance from primary to secondary is much steeper in rural areas, which also lags behind urban India in most indicators, I e. infant mortality, percentage of anaemic population, access to basic services, etc. To explore methods to develop sustainable villages, a Smart Village conclave was organised on the third day of the expo. The discussions covered issues such as: the urban rural divide and integration, paradigm of sustainable agri-business growth via optimally bringing people together, technology and processes; enabling farmers to live a life of self-reliance, prosperity and dignity; solar electrification; digital panchayats; migration; capacity building; mobilising women, etc.
Youth Leadership Summit India is one of the youngest nations in the world. About 65% of India’s population is under 35 years of age. This is the most dynamic segment of the population, which can lead India on the road to growth and development. The youth today should be active drivers and not merely passive recipients of development. To harness young talent, One Mega Event organised the Youth Leadership Summit, which provided a unique opportunity for start-ups and students to participate and display innovative ideas / case studies or research. This stimulation provided real experience where the youth played a role in solving real-world problems for sustainability. Using a holistic approach, experts and mentors guided the youth to build solutions for the components of smart cities. The summit consisted of three segments i.e Mentoring Young Minds, Start-Up Speaks, and Academia Interface.
