PRINCIPLES, FEATURES AND APPLICATIONS

The LE-EH unit is a 2-wire, loop-powered level instrument utilising the buoyancy principle to measure andconvert liquid level/interface changes into a stable output signal to be transmitted or shown on-site. Thelinkage between the level sensing element and ouput electronics simplifies mechanical design and construction.Operation function include Interface, Level, density measurement.

Shall be applied on vessels like:

¥ feedwater heaters¥ boilers¥ flash tanks¥ scrubbers¥ separators¥ receivers

BODY AND CONNECTIONS RATING, MATERIALS, TEMPERATURES

Instrument body is normally in contact with measured fluid or under pressure, so our executions are designed,rated and approved, according to UNI and to ANSI regulations. Our executions is up to ANSI 2500, and astemperature limits we go from -190¡ C. Up to +350¡ C. (in case of temperatures higher or lower than ourstandard, we apply a finned extension between the electronics and the mechanics, to preserve the PCB andits functions).Standard materials for external body and mechanics are CARBON STEEL LCB, for low termperatures andSTAINLESS STEEL, while for internals we use STAINLESS STEEL 316L, Inconel, Hastelloy C, PTFEprotections, depending by process and customer needs.Electronics housing is as standard in aluminium, but the STAINLESS STEEL 316 version is available onrequest.Of course exotic materials for the parts in contact wih process are always available on request, like Tantalium,LCS, Inconel, Hastelloy C, and more.

INTERNALS AND THEIR PRINCIPLES

Torque tube: This assembly is available in AISI 316L, Hastelloy C or Inconel, to ensure a perfect torsionalelasticity with no hysteresis, so to achieve instantaneous and accurate response to the torque tube producedby the buoyancy exerted on the float. PTFE lining is available also to prevent evental corrosion on site.

Displacer: are usually in AISI316L (others available on request), cylindric shape, and their weight is caseby case adapted to process datas in order to duly perform. Displacer lenght determines the measuring range(maximum level run that can be measured). Its diameter depends on the measuring range and is also basedon the specific gravity weight of the liquid(s).The upper part of the displacer rod is provided with a friction free lever to the torque arm connected.

Torque measurement: Our instrument has an innovative system to transfer the torsion movement to thepressure sensor, that performs with accuracy and stability.

Density measurement: Displacer is completely immersed and its buoyancy exerted on the float varies withthe specific gravity of the liquid and independently by the level. The dimension of the displacer depends bythe density’s measuring range.

Interface measurement: Interface is defined as the boundary surface between two immiscible liquids withdifferent specific gravities, as for instance water and petrol. The interface occurs in an intermediate zone ofthe displacer who is functioning while completely submerged.The buoyancy who determines the measurement, depends not only by the interface level but also by thedifference in specific liquids’ gravities. Consequently a dedicated displacer and torque tube, if necessary, willbe applied.

MEASURING PRINCIPLE

The capacitive ceramic pressure sensor element Ceraphire¤ is at the core of the transducer. The ceramicsensor is a dry sensor. A pressure-dependent change in capacitance is measured at the electrodes of theceramic substrate and the process isolating diaphragm. Its special features include high overload resistance,corrosion resistance and long-term stability.
