A very small LNG production plant
The plant uses standard equipment for low investment cost and fast manufactureof the liquefaction unit.
The plant is manufacturedat an assembly site, then easily shipped and installed at the chosen location.

The efficiency challenge
Small is beautiful – The MiniLNG conceptConference ”The potential of bio-energy for future energy supply”, 5. June, 2008, Leipzig, Germany
The efficiency challenge
< 0.6 kWh/kg of LNG produced< 0.5 kWh/kg of LNG produces, if using
CO2 pre-cooling provided byDGE’s BCM-technology
Small is beautiful – The MiniLNG conceptConference ”The potential of bio-energy for future energy supply”, 5. June, 2008, Leipzig, Germany
The engineering challenge
Oil-flooded screw compressor, after-cooler, off-the-shelf heat exchangers, and expansion valves to the liquefaction system
Creation of multiple phase-changes within the heat exchangers; descending the temperature of the mixture to produce LNG
Small is beautiful – The MiniLNG conceptConference ”The potential of bio-energy for future energy supply”, 5. June, 2008, Leipzig, Germany
The engineering challenge
For a non-disruptive production of LNG the MiniLNGTM plants will be powered by a gas engine with feed gas or regeneration gas, or both.
”Plug and play” design philosophyRelocation possible

The MiniLNGTM biogas-LNG pilot plant
Full scale demonstration of the SINTEF MCR liquefaction technologyi.e. 6 or 15 tons/day – 2400 or 6000 tons/year
An LNG liquefier cannot be used without credible solutions for:Pre-treatmentTail-gas handlingPower supply
The pilot should ideally be representative with respect to:Capacity (6, or 15 tons/day)Feed gas compositionFeed gas impuritiesFeed gas pressurePre-treatment systemTail gas handlingPower generation

The MiniLNGTM biogas-LNG pilot plant
Proposal for fulfillment of representativeness criteria:Capacity (6 or 15 tons/day).
Paramount, impacts of scale are important
Feed gas composition.Bio gas
Feed gas impurities/Pre-treatment systemRemoval of CO2, water and traces of H2S using DGE’s BCM technology.Excessive H2S and CO2 in feed will require expensive pre-treatment.Within certain narrow limits, pre-treatment can be made fairly simple.
Feed gas pressureAll other sources than pipeline gas needs pre-compression. It is not considered necessary to
demonstrate compression, but pilot will not be built for taking advantage of cold from throttling.
Tail gas handlingA MiniLNG plant in the field should be capable of island-mode operation. All tail-gas should therefore
be treated properly by the pilot plant.
Power generationIsland-mode is required in the field. Pilot must therefore be capable of operation without being
connected to the grid. Requires UPS for control system and small auxiliary manually activated (gasoline) generator. (2,2 kW).
