Just like buildings are made of bricks, museum galleries are made of stories hidden in artifacts. Each picture on this activity guide is a small detail of a larger artifact in the Bullock Museum. The objects are part of people’s daily lives. How many of the artifacts can you find using the picture clues?
If you were a soldier sailing on the La Belle ship, you probably kept one of these by your side. This one
dissolved in the salt water, but it left
behind an imprint in the sand on the sea floor.
We can make imprints in sand, mud, and clay. Have you ever left an imprint behind? What print did you make?
On special occasions, men in the military wore hats like this one. Notice the decorations on the hat. Think of when you wore something for a special time. How did you feel when you wore it?

This piece of pottery showing African design might have been packed in the trunk of someone moving to Texas many years ago. Draw a jug or pot that you’d like to take with you.

(Find the text label behind the statue) This lady stands nearly 16 feet tall and weighs about 2000 pounds. She once stood on top of the Texas State Capitol dome. What do you think her view was from there?
What animal would wear this artifact? The lip bar made a jingling sound to help generate saliva and give the animal something to play with. What do people or pets wear that jingle?

You might have seen this on the costume of the Duchess of Citrus Grove contest winner at a citrus celebration in Corpus Christi. Think of something a winner might be given. Draw yourself looking like a winner.
Special items were designed for Texas’s 100th birthday! Drivers could show off this one as they traveled down the road. Design a license plate that celebrates Texas.
