Quick Facts :"India -- the world's second largest Facebook audience - will surpass 100 million mobile phone Facebook users for the first time this year and by 2017, will have more mobile Facebook users than the US," as per a report of eMarketer. According to the report, Facebook user-base in the US will hit 123.1 million followed by India at 101.5 million. However, by 2017, India will have the largest mobile phone user-base at 145.9 million followed by the US at 138.8 million.

Of the 112 million users in India, more than 99 million users are using the platform on their mobile phones at least once a month. About 45 million users in India are using their mobile phones every day to connect with their friends on Facebook.

Overall, there will be 1.58 billion mobile phone social network users globally this year and even with the ban in China and strong local social networks in other large population countries, like Russia, mobile Facebook users will still represent over 60 per cent of the worldwide mobile social audience, it added.

Business related

1. Page Insights: Much like Google Analytics, Facebook also provides metric data, allowing you to monitor your page's performance. Insights allow page administrators to see how many people like their business's page, the number of people who saw a post and demographic data about the page's readership. Most important, it illustrates the specific content that engages readers.

2. Hashtags: Primarily associated with platforms like Twitter, hash tagging (or marking key words with the # symbol) is an essential social media tool that allows you to join a larger conversation. The practice creates a clickable link that will include your post in related topics, even outside your network. For example, hash tagging #marketing would put your post in conversation with those interested in business and marketing strategy.

3. Scheduled Posts: Facebook allows you to schedule posts to appear at a later time. When creating a post to appear at a later time, click the clock icon to the bottom left of the sharing tool, and add a future time at which you'd like the post to be published. Posts can be scheduled in 10-minute intervals.

4. Page modernization/ Profanity filter: Facebook now allows you to schedule posts to appear at a later time. When creating a post to appear at a later time, click the clock icon to the bottom left of the sharing tool, and add a future time at which you'd like the post to be published. Posts can be scheduled in 10-minute intervals.

5. Pages to watch: enables admins to monitor the performance of competitors compared to their own Page, including metrics like total page likes, new page likes,

new posts and overall engagement. It is important to note that admins can also check on competitor insights.

6. When your fans are online: This section can be useful in determining the best days and times of day to post content, as it sheds light on the overall activity of a Page’s audience base.

7. Post types: This section sheds light on the success of different post types based on average reach and engagement. By reviewing this section, admins can identify their best performing content and optimize posting strategies to increase audience engagement with their Page.

8. Graph Search: The latest version of Facebook's search bar includes a breadth of search results outside your known network. While still in its beta stage, Graph Search aggregates user data and provides personalized search results based on your interests and connections, allowing businesses to appear in searches optimized for specific audiences.

9. Promoted posts: This is a great tool for small businesses that want to promote their content but don't have a big budget for advertising. For as little as $5 per post, the promoted content is labelled "sponsored" and will appear higher in your audience's newsfeed for a longer period of time. This provides a better chance your audience will engage with the post.

10. Instant Article: Launched in response to an increase in users reading articles posted on the site — particularly on mobile devices — Facebook is also hoping to please publishers who are interested in posting sharable content on the site to better interact and engage with consumers.

11. Sponsored Stories: Marketers can target ads and Sponsored Stories to people based on the stories they’ve shared from apps. For example, Sony pictures can now reach out to people who have watched the trailer for a specific movie with an ad on the movie release day or later the DVD release. This functionality is only available through the Facebook (direct) sales team and the Ads API at launch to ensure proper controls.

12. Timeline Apps: Timeline opens up plentiful opportunities for innovative applications that take advantage of the new profile interaction and screen real estate. The key to all this new Facebook Timeline design is making things as social as possible. Few of the apps include- Guardian, Spotify, Pinterest, SurveyMonkey etc.
