Jeremiah 20:10-13 | Psalm 69:8-10, 14, 17, 33-35 Romans 5:12-15 | Ma hew 10:26-33

Mass Broadcast. Our 11:00 am Sunday Mass is livestreamed and can be viewed from our website, www.stmaryslancaster.org, and our Facebook page, Historic St. Mary’s Church. It is also broadcast on LCTV Channel 66 from 5:00-6:00 pm on Sunday evening. We thank the Knights of Columbus #867 for underwri ng the cost of the Sunday evening broadcast.

Saint John Paul II reminds us that, in commemora ng the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Church “does not only celebrate the Eucharist but solemnly bears it in procession, publicly proclaiming that the sacrifice of Christ is for the salva on of the whole world.” We rejoice in this post-Easter expression of our Eucharis c affec on in order to deepen our a achment to the unique and unending Event that transforms our lives. As the Sequence for Corpus Chris begs: “Jesu, of your love befriend us,/ You refresh us, you defend us,/ Your eternal goodness send us/ In the land of life to see. —Magnificat, June 2020

Stewardship Tithing: God’s Plan for Giving

From Fr. Brian. Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread (1 Corinthians 10:17). As disciples of Jesus, we are called to lead holy lives and invite others to join us. Living a stewardship lifestyle, being grateful and generous with our gi s, serves a twofold purpose. One, it helps build God’s kingdom here on earth. Two, it helps us strengthen each other’s rela onship with God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It becomes our roadmap to Heaven. Let’s help each other get there!

Virtual Youth Group – Large Group Update – Thanksgiving. With everything that’s happened over the last few months, it can be a challenge to be thankful. At Youth Group, we had three rounds of finding things/people to be thankful for…Round 1 was normal things, like a friend or a car or a ki y. For Round 2, we had to find interes ng things. These are things that you have to think about but you are s ll thankful for like a Bible or your brain. The last round, Round 3, was a challenge to be thankful for crazy things. These are things that can be annoying but we can s ll be thankful for like Bob’s shoulder surgery or high school or siblings. The idea is that we should be thankful for all things:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: Always be joyful. Pray constantly. For all things give thanks; this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Next, Bob and Noelle created their first video on being thankful for frustra ng things! We ended with a thanksgiving prayer and a conversa on with Jesus, ending with thanking Him for our next breath which is indeed a wonderful gi from God. As we le , we watched the music video for the song, “Blessing” – some mes blessings come through problems… Upcoming Schedule

From the Archives

The Lancaster New Era, Tuesday, February 21, 1905: “Arrangements have been made through the local council

of the Knights of Columbus for a lecture at the Iris Club on Friday, March 3, by Rev. Dr. Henry G. Ganss of Carlisle, Pa. The subject of the lecture is ‘The North American Indian and the Catholic Church.’ Dr. Ganss is a na ve of Lancaster and is well known as a musician of high rank, as well as a scholar of considerable reputa on. He is unusually well-equipped to discuss the subject of this lecture, as he has been for three years the financial agent of the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions at Washington and has traveled all over the country in the interest of this work. Admission to the lecture will be by card only, obtained from members of the Knights of Columbus.” (Note: Fr. Ganss was later assigned as pastor of St. Mary’s Church from 1910-1912.)

The Lancaster New Era, Monday, September 1, 1913: “Tomorrow morning at 8:30 o’clock St. Mary’s parochial school will reopen. The Sisters of Mercy, famous for their teaching ability, will be in charge. Sister Xavier will be superior, and Sisters Veronica, Alphonsus, Camilus and Brigida will be the teachers. An advanced course has been prepared for this year, and any children wishing to take up these courses may do so, and are requested to apply to the Rev. Superior.”

The Lancaster New Era, Tuesday, November 4, 1913: “What promises to be an auspicious opening of a successful

basketball season will take place this evening in St. Mary’s Hall, when the Keenan Athle c Club meets the strong Holy Trinity Lyceum of Columbia. The game starts promptly at 8 o’clock. The Keenan team is composed of such players as Brown, Beck, Buckius, Yecker, McGeever, Brickner and Bachler and a good game can be expected. The feature of the evening will be a dance a er the game, and this feature will con nue each week during the season. Eckenrode’s Orchestra will play for the dance.” The Lancaster New Era, Monday, December 29, 1913: “Not in many years have so great a number of people a ended a service in St. Mary’s as at last evening’s service. Many persons could not gain admission. Long before the services began every seat in the spacious church was occupied, and St. Mary’s, always beau ful, never looked so charming. It was adorned with greens, holly and lilies, and around the marble altars hundreds of electric lights were burning. Mr. Murr rendered a number of well-received selec ons on the organ. Messrs. Hambright and Kratzert, and Miss McEvoy, were at their best in their solo work. The whole choir received applause. The processional and recessional by the vested boys were highly commented upon by musical cri cs. The services closed with a grand Magnificat from Mozart. St. Mary’s has been a veritable mecca for the past few days for the hundreds who have come to see the manger of Bethlehem. It will remain in the church un l a er New Year’s. The church is always open and all are welcome to enter.”

It will be held June 22-26 with a “live” opening and closing. If you cannot a end it “live” do not worry as each day will be recorded. Informa on is below with a link to register (registra on and payment will go through St. Leo’s Church website). If you have any ques ons please email/text/call:
