We are proud to present our new catalogue.

The last couple of months we developed

several new items such as the bar stool,

the desk EVO, the BBQ Butler BUCK and a

collection of side tables in three heights, three

colours and three models. Your reactions to

these new products were very positive and

that encourages us to continue to develop

new items. In February our first Flagship Store

opened in Hengelo. Our complete collection

W E LCO M E TO T H E S L I D E A RT S P R I N G & S U M M E R M A G A Z I N E

is on display there and allows us to receive

buyers and retailers in a very nice ambiance

where we can show our furniture, surrounded

with beautiful accessories. Enjoy our magazine

PROUD WINNER OF THE 2014 BALTHAZAR AWARDS

The first sign of the contest came the second

day of the fair. A gentleman entered the

stand and started asking questions about

our products. So far nothing suspicious.

But when he started asking more and more

detailed questions and wrote down our

answers on a sheet he carried, we wondered

which firm he represented as a potential

buyer. The next day a lady came to visit

carrying a similar sheet of paper also asking

detailed questions. Curiously as we Dutchies

are, we asked her what company she was

working for. She revealed to us the story of

the Balthazar Awards in the different fields.

We were pleasantly surprised by this honour. Probably one of the latest

subscribers to The Brussels Furniture Fair, we were not even aware of the

famous Balthazar awards. Until a few jurors visited our stand.

That explained why jurors passed asking

questions. We thought nothing of it, being a

newcomer and last minute subscriber.

We went to the price presentation to sip

some champagne and enjoy some nice food.

We listened with half an ear to the juries’

considerations but listened sharper and

sharper when they started talking about

“sliding”, “flat pack shipment” and “no

ironware”. Then all of a sudden we heard:

“And the Balthazar for most ecological

furniture goes to SLIDEART from The

Netherlands…”

The power of SLIDEART furniture also is its suitability to be combined with other brands and styles.

Indoors SLIDEART combines very well with other contemporary brands but also with vintage or

even antique furniture and accessories. Some of the SLIDEART products, after being properly

treated, can be used outdoors. Of course our two BBQ Butlers, but also the Chairs and Sofas in

the version “natural”. After the season just stow them flat; they won’t hardly eat any space.

We were looking for a possibility to show

our entire collection but we did not want

to end up with a traditional showroom.

When Vandaag (Today) concept store

was preparing its opening, we found a

profitable cooperation. Vandaag functions

as our flagship store by exposing our entire

collection, combined with Vandaag’s own

collection of other brands of furniture

and accessories. In that way all SLIDEART

products can be seen in a regularly changing

surrounding of contemporary brands such

as HK Living, Secto Design, Bloomingville,

Moome by Indera, Van Verre, ByBoo, Jots,

Mooi door Mij, Zusss, and Zinvol.

Our whole collection on display

Vandaag concept store is located in Hengelo

in one of the oldest streets in a building

that dates back to 1900. Originally built as

a savings bank, later most known by the

largest textiles shop (Fox) in the region.

We now invite our relations to Vandaag

concept store to experience our collection. Of

course we also proudly show our production

site in Oldenzaal (about 10 minutes by car).

TWO OF OUR RETAILERS IN THE SPOTLIGHTS

SUBBA, Nijmegen (NL)

Its name comes from SubbaCultcha by The

Pixies. Subba in the town of Nijmegen was

the first retailer who contacted us directly.

Its owner, Monique Schrievers, is a real

professional who knows exactly how to run a

modern lifestyle store.

Good taste and hospitality are her formula

for the success she has. Subba has been

around for nineteen years and continuously

changes her collection which makes it

worthwhile to pay regular visits. Subba

mingles furniture, lightning, textiles,

accessories, olive oil, presents of all kinds

and kitchen equipment.

L’Interprète, Toulouse (FR)

A wonderful concept store in the old centre

of Toulouse (4th town of France). Véronique

Tordjeman runs the store since 2014, with

her daughter Karen and son in law David.

On a relatively small surface they succeed

to present a well-combined collection of

furniture and accessories.

We met Véronique, Karen and David at

our first exhibition at Maison & Objet in

September 2014 in Paris. We visited them in

November that year to see them in their new

store. Their creatvity is proven by a Chair

ORI which they had spray painted by a local

artist. It looks gorgeous.

With a broad experience in working with

plate materials we now produce our own

brand SLIDEART. First designed by drawings

on sheets of paper, later drawn in sketching

software, the design is digitally transferred to

a file which can be read by our CNC machine.

This machine then mills the required forms

out of the selected plywood sheets. Every

piece is checked and radiuses are milled to

the edges by hand. With a final inspection

the sides are abraded again by hand and

some pieces are fire branded with our logo.

Our crew also consists of people who have a

distance to the regular labour market.

Preheat your barbecue to 200°C/400°F. Take your chicken out of the

fridge while you make your rub. In a pestle and mortar, bash up your

fennel and cumin seeds and mix with the paprika, brown sugar, chilli

powder, salt and pepper. Stir in about 3 tablespoons of olive oil until

you get a nice paste. Drizzle this rub all over the chicken, inside and

out, using your hands to make sure you get it into all the nooks and

crannies.

Crack your beer open, have a couple of good swigs so your can is

just about half full, then lower your chicken’s cavity on to the top of

the can so it looks as though the chicken is sitting on the can. A bit

undignified, I know, but trust me – it’s going to be delicious.

In the barbecue, try to strategically move a small amount of coals to

the sides rather than directly underneath the chicken, so the heat

radiates around it and cooks it from all angles rather than grills it.

This is a really fun and effective way to cook chicken. This

is the barbecue method and it will give you tasty moist

chicken. You need a standard kettle-style barbecue with a

lid and a thermometer. Make sure it’s tall enough to hold

the upright chicken. The steam from the beer cooks the

inside of the bird, so the meat ends up lovely and juicy.

Carefully sit the chicken on the bars of your barbecue. Cook for

around 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes or until it’s golden

and delicious and the meat pulls away from the bone and the juices

run clear. If this isn’t the case (all barbecues are slightly different) just

cook for a bit longer.

Once done, remove the can and loosely cover your chicken with foil

and a tea towel while you get some grilled veg, salad or warm breads

together – but trust me, it tastes so good you won’t need much else.

This firm and industrial chair, made out of Nordic

pine plywood (underlayment) was the first product

of Jeroen Wolfs’ mind. What followed was the

collection of furniture you find in this magazine.

This Chair FUNC (2015) is very stylish through

its slightly back falling seat and the somewhat

trapezium shaped back. Smaller than its sister

ORI, so very suitable around a table, at a desk or

besides your bed.

The Chair Kids (2014) is an exact copy of Chair ORI

but in a two/third dimension. The thickness of the

used material went from 18 mm to 12 mm as did

all the dimensions.

The Bar Stool was designed on request for one of

our suppliers. They used it quite successfully in one

of their selling fairs. Seen the beauty of its design

we added it to our collection.

interiors. We added stools to our collection in the

same three colours as our site tables; blue, clay

and powder. You can choose from two chassis;

natural or fine varnished.

Like we did with Chair ORI, we brought all

dimensions of the Sofas back to two/third and the

SLIDEART tables have the specific feature that, although the table is assembled without any

nail, screw or glue, the table top is firmly fixed to the chassis. The simplicity of its design

makes our tables to a much wanted centre piece in many living rooms and diners.

Three colours, three heights and three models make twenty seven different side tables.

The three colours are trendy for this year and are called blue, powder and clay. The three

models are the basic shapes Triangle, Rectangle and Circle. The chassis come in three

heights; 300, 450 and 600 mm. Spectacular is the way the Triangle top fits on to any chassis,

just by repositioning one leg to the other side.

We were challenged by a French company to

develop a desk that could be used by kids as well

as adults. After some experimenting Desk EVO

was the result. EVO is the abbreviation for évolutif

which is French for scalable. The working board

can be assembled at two different heights and the

top shelf can also be used as a lectern.

This very useful garden kitchen piece of furniture comes in two sizes. The

BBQ Butler BIG has a nice storage space, a practical garbage bag holder, a

size table for your sauces and a kitchen paper and a cling foil holder. At the

back you can attach your parasol pole. The BBQ Butler BUCK is a smaller

version but with a real BBQ in the shape of a bucket. Very useful in smaller

gardens or even on balconies.

We designed a beautiful add on Wall Cabinet. You start with one of the base

sets, which have two uprights and from there on you can continue to build your

wall cabinet by adding extension sets (which have one upright). You can vary in

height (110, 180 or 240 cm) in width (40 or 80 cm) and you can apply corner units

to continue building around a corner. At a height of 110 cm, each element has a

top shelf, while the other heights stay open at the top.
