Awards Last term we were delighted to go London for theNursery World Awards and again were the onlycompany from Ireland to be shortlisted in any category- last year was for team development and this year forNursery Group of the year. Once again we weredelighted to come away as runners up in this category. We also had the opportunity to meet up and spend theday with June O'Sullivan from London Early YearsFoundation and Roger Neugebauer who had flown overfrom the West Coast of USA. June showed us roundsome of her settings including those at the House ofCommons and Roger accompanied Diane and Bronaghto the awards night. We were equally delighted to be shortlisted and highlycommended in NI's (medium sized category) FamilyFriendly Employer Awards with Employers for Childcare. A wonderful day out at Galgorm and lovely recognitionfor our employer related family friendly policies wehave for our employees. Reggio Emilia As parents will be aware we have a Reggio EmiliaInspired Early Childhood Centre for 0-5 year olds aswell as our wraparound school age childcare sites. Weare following the Reggio Emilia approach more andmore in our school age sites so were delighted when wefound ourselves offered the possibility of returning toReggio Emilia for their smaller winter conference in2019. We spent a week with the wonderful peoplebehind both the Curiosity Approach and also Fairy DustTeaching (Follow them both on social media if you canand you will see they are both global influencers of allthings early years and childcare so it was an amazingopportunity). As a result Diane and Bronagh have also featured asspeakers in the Fairy Dust Winter Conference which hasalready been recorded and will be screened in February2020. Committee work As you will see from our social media we place anemphasis on lobbying for our sector in NI. We havebeen asked to join a Regional cross party workinggroup where we are advocating for both staff in oursector and also for working parents in terms of anurgent need for a childcare strategy. The fourthmeeting of this group will meet in February and we arehopeful now that an executive is in place that progressmay be made in 2020 as this has been included in aprogramme for Government. Diane also chairs the employers forum for Early Years,Playwork and Childminders as well as sitting on theRegional Workforce Grouping with senior civil servantsfrom the Departments of Education and Health. Bronagh sits on the Childcare for All Campaign lobbyingon behalf of working parents.

Retirement We would like to announce the retirement of ourManaging Director - Nikolai Koplewsky (snr) from 31December 2019. Nikolai will still be taking an activerole and interest in the company for the foreseeablefuture but in a back seat role and on an as and whenrequired basis. We have been preparing for hisretirement for a couple of years by bringing Bronagh onthe Board of Directors as well as appointing a head ofAdmin role last year, promoting Dee to RegionalManager and bringing Rachel on board as an AreaManager. So its been a build up or a slow downdepending on how you view it - but we all take thisopportunity to thank him for all of his endeavours overhis 20 years with the Company. Staff Team 2020 As innovate and flexible employers we have our owntraining programme for staff and also endeavour toaccomodate staff requests in terms of flexibility ofemployment such as term time only contracts or toallow for attending courses Therefore whilst we normally have a dedicated managerper site sometimes our assistant playworkers will movebetween sites to accomodate flexiblity. However weare the largest childcare provider in NI and you will seestaff changes from time to time as staff move on touniversity as well as staff who move to work closer tohome in another of our facilities or even progress to theranks of unit management. During holidays staff alsomove more frequently as units join together in link withour shared play holiday camps. The senior management team is as follows.
