You like numbers, and you always have. The CGA Ontario Case Competition will put your abilities and problem solving skills to the test against accounting students from across Ontario. Have your performance judged by CGAs from the business world, and make your mark.

Etiquette is important, especially in the business world. Learn the dos and don’ts of business luncheons through an interactive dining experience. You can even impress your friends and family with your newfound expertise in silverware placement and elbow positioning...Every year, with the assistance of Chef Thomas, students in the Office Admin, Marketing, and Human Resources programs participate in a business luncheon and learn proper ettiquite.

Keep on top of current union trends by learning from provincial and national union leadership. The world of human resources is constantly evolving, and you can be a part of the discussion. This is an annual event, organized by HR students, that brings in provincial and national union leadership to the college to discuss current trends impacting the role of unions in Canada.

Engage local sales professionals in a variety of situations. Are you an expert at personal selling? Are you interested in lead generation? See how you stack up against your peers through this internal sales competition.

Be a part of the World Business Forum. Whether you view the event locally via simulcast, or experience the thrill of the WBF in New York City, this is your chance to be immersed into the behaviours of modern business. This is experiential learning at its finest.With the support of the ENACTUS team, the Student Association, and local business sponsors we are able to simulcast the New York City event here in Kingston. This event is used to raise funds for the BSIF and ENACTUS projects.

If you can hardly contain your entrepreneurial spirit, then Enactus is for you. Work with like-minded individuals to leave a positive legacy on your community while honing your professional skills. Bringing together students, volunteers, and members of the community to drive positive change, Enactus seeks to reduce poverty by coming up with long-term solutions to difficult problems.

Leadership and communication go hand in hand. Become a part of Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization that serves to develop both skills. Learn from others, share your experiences, and become a master communicator.

Better prepare your resume, be on top of your game for job interviews, and benefit from knowing more about yourself. This assessment allows participants to gain a better understanding of their personality and how they function in the workplace.

If you’ve ever spent a restless night on YouTube watching TEDTalks, then TEDx is right up your alley. Even if you haven’t, it’s a valuable chance to learn something new. Whether you’re planning and coordinating the event, or sitting in the audience: TEDx provides unique learning opportunities by stimulating dialogue about a broad range of topics.

Want something to show off for all of your hard work during the school year? The Open Badges project seeks to give you some embellishment for your online presence by awarding electronic badges. Critical thinking, entrepreneurism, leadership, communications, and many other areas will be eligible—if you meet the criteria. Put your talent to work and earn those badges! Students in the Human Resources program have established criteria that allows students to receive college recognition for co-curricular involvement and career readiness skills in the form of electronic badges.

Interested in writing? You’ll have the chance to conduct an informational interview with a business professional and to share your experience with the following year’s students. Develop your business communications skills while leaving a legacy for other students to benefit from. It’s a win-win.

Spark Production House is a student-led agency that comes up with creative solutions to e-learning and hybrid learning challenges. How? Through whatever means possible. If you’re passionate about videography, graphic design, creative writing, or account management, you should consider Spark. Work on real, comprehensive projects while applying your skills to solve problems. Experience a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment that allows for creative freedom.

Mickey Mouse can be your study buddy if you decide to travel abroad through St. Lawrence College’s exchange program with Walt Disney Resort, near Orlando, Florida. Genies and lamps aren’t required to make this dream come true! Earn a certificate from Florida State University while you complete your program at SLC. Think about it. Over the last three years 30 students have participated in this program.

The Ryan Taylor Memorial Bus Pull is your chance to work with members of your program to pull a bus. Yeah, a bus. Like, a full-sized coach bus. If it’s your first year, you’ll make your first friends at this event. If it’s not your first year, then you’re probably already trying to gather your team. This past year over 300 students and staff participated representing 12 academic programs.

If you’re going to call yourself an SLC Viking—and why wouldn’t you want to—then Get Your Horns on is going to be a prominent part of orientation week. Students compete in squads of four to eight people in this challenge to sell Viking helmets to members of their personal networks. Develop a sales strategy, execute it, and help fund student activities at the same time. In four years the students have raised over $20000, with $8000 raised this past fall.
