Who Are We?SkyLight Paths Publishing is creating a place where people of different spiritual traditions come together for challenge and inspiration, a place where we can help each other understand the mystery that lies at the heart of our existence.

Through spirituality, our religious beliefs are increasingly becoming a part of our lives—rather than apart from our lives. While many of us may be more interested than ever in spiritual growth, we may be less firmly planted in traditional religion. Yet, we do want to deepen our relationship to the sacred, to learn from our own as well as from other faith traditions and to practice in new ways.

SkyLight Paths sees both believers and seekers as a community that increasingly transcends tradi-tional boundaries of religion and denomination— people wanting to learn from each other, walking together, finding the way.

What Are We Doing?SkyLight Paths recognizes that believers and seekers of different faith traditions, or no specific tradition, want to listen to and learn from each other as never before. We want to help them. This does not mean that our readers leave their own religious traditions behind. It does mean that they are open to one faith enriching another. SkyLight Paths will help believers deepen their faith and help seekers in their search.

We will succeed only if our books make a dif-ference in your life. We are all walking together, finding the way.

Discover Henri Nouwen’s authentic, spacious spirituality of being deeply beloved. This introduction to the spiritual thought of Henri Nouwen distills his key insights on the realm of the spiritual life into an inspiring overview of Nouwen’s spirituality of the heart. Thematically assembled to direct readers to the corre-sponding primary sources, it explores the three spiritual constructs—solitude, community and ministry—that Nouwen addresses in much of his writing, and how they form what he saw as a balanced, authentic spirituality.

“ This is a life-giving reminder that spirituality is not a program added to one’s life, but it spills from our heart and from the very core of our being. This book is both an invitation and an essential encouragement.” —Rev. TeRRy heRShey,

author, Sanctuary: Creating a Space for Grace in Your Life

Wil Hernandez, PhD, Obl. OSB, a spiritual director and international workshop and retreat leader, teaches courses on the spirituality of Henri Nouwen at seminaries and universities throughout the United States and abroad.

Ronald Rolheiser, popular ecumenical Catholic theologian and colum-nist, is author of The Holy Longing and Sacred Fire.

A profound reminder of our role in God’s vision for a restored and reconciled world. Insightfully explores the meaning of mis-sion in our lives and reminds us of the work Jesus and his disciples set out to do.

Accessible, humor-ous and meaningful, these words and practices will lead you further along your path toward discovering a deeper awareness of yourself and your relationship to all that is around you—and within you.

Meet fascinating—at times, intimidating— Christian change agents who were unafraid to ask what God would have them do in the face of life’s realities. Their words and actions challenged the status quo, and showed Jesus to the Church and to the world.

An intriguing view into the thoughts, beliefs and life of this champion of interreli-gious acceptance and harmony. The first in-depth study of Bede Griffiths’ contempla-tive experience and thought.

This Christian mysti-cal poet is beloved for his fresh language and startling metaphors. Underneath this lovely verse lies a searching soul, wrestling with and yearning for God, that will speak to people of all faiths who seek a deeper experience of God.

Offers a personal encounter with daily life inside the Trappist abbey of Gethsemani, Kentucky, as it might be encountered on a one-week retreat.

Explores who might be called to Interfaith and the ques-tions, ”What can I do?” and ”How can I get involved?” For anyone interested in exploring the world’s spiritual paths without feeling they must abandon their own.

Blessings, prayers, anecdotes and medita-tions from many faith traditions about the sacred undertaking that is motherhood. These words of hope and healing, pain and promise are for all mothers—traditional, single, adoptive, foster, step and bereaved.

This unique and encouraging guide to prayer explores how to engage in spiritual-ity that blesses your soul—and the world. Offers innovative ways to pray in four metaphorical move-ments that parallel both Native American traditions and Ignatian spirituality.

This beautiful collec-tion of prayers will take you on a journey into the spiritual walk of women of color around the world—including Asia, the Middle East and Africa—as well as Native American, Afri-can American, Asian American and Hispanic women in the United States.

Prayers from a broad spectrum of spiritual traditions celebrate the profound variety of ways men around the world have called out to the Divine—with words of joy, praise, gratitude, wonder, petition and even anger.

Twenty-one simple ways of using our hands to speak to God, from a broad range of religious traditions, pre-sented in word and image.

A multifaceted sourcebook telling the story of recon ciliation, celebra-tion and struggle for LGBTQI inclu-sion across the American religious landscape. This easily accessible sourcebook explores thirteen faith traditions that wrestle with LGBTQI inclusion, documenting the challenges and transformation of American religion. Contributors—LGBTQI and allied activists, scholars and clergy—write from an inside perspective about their communities, addressing the ways in which LGBTQI inclusion is being consciously constructed or denied, how their faith’s teachings have been tradition-ally interpreted, and what textual or authorita-tive changes have taken place to integrate LGBTQI people into their communities.

Mychal Copeland is the Bay Area director of InterfaithFamily. Her rabbinate includes having served Congregation Beth Simchat Torah, the world’s largest LGBTQI synagogue. She works with both multifaith and Jewish groups that engage the intersection of LGBTQI and religious identities.

D’vorah Rose, a multifaith health-care chaplain, palliative care/hospice nurse and rabbi, consults with and advises health-care institutions through-out the United States and internationally on the intersections of religious and cultural diversity.

Bishop Gene Robinson was the ninth Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire, being the first openly gay, partnered priest to become a bishop in historic Christianity. He is currently a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, DC.
