The SkyCop is a new breed of gyrocopter lifted to the standards of LSA
certification and superior to all other models on the market
What is a Gyrocopter?
A gyrocopter is a hybrid between an airplane
and a helicopter
A helicopter’s uplift and forward trust are both
provided by the horizontal rotor. An airplane’s
forward trust is provided by the vertical
propellers, the uplift by fixed wing aerodynamics
With a gyrocopter, forward thrust is provided by
a vertical rotor (as with a plane’s propeller) and
uplift is provided by the horizontal rotor which is
driven by aerodynamic forces alone
Deployability of competitor models is limited
Gyrocopter producers are focused on the
sports segment, not governmental agencies
Products are built out of common materials (not
according to aerospace standards)
Do not meet requirements for an LSA licence,
thus need domestic licensing in every country
Comparably poor performance parameters with
relatively long take-off and landing distance,
limited payload and little protection and comfort
for the pilot
The SkyCop has overcome all
technical limitations
The Skycopter is designed to meet all regulatory
requirements to achieve global licensing:
JAR-OPS & 21
LSA with FAA
It is build out of advanced aerospace materials
and high-tech components:
Proprietary rotor technology is at the core
of the superior flight performance
Single piece carbon rotor blades
Frame made of aircraft steel
Body made entirely of carbon
Strong and reliable engine
Ergonomic cockpit design
Modern cockpit instruments
Optional autopilot (HDI /ALT and GPS)
Optional closed cockpit (hardened glass)
Optional hardened cockpit
It can be customised to carry up to 160kg of
special purpose capability enhancing equipment

Currently, we are offering two Skycopter models, the one seater “SkyCop/01”
and the two seater “Matrix”
One seater “SkyCop/01” closed version Two seater “SkyCop/02” open version
Universal multi-purpose aerial platform
Designed for deployment in governmental
law enforcement agencies and selected
commercial organisations
Superior payload, range and other general
flight performance parameters
Can be customised and loaded with high-
tech equipment to meet almost any specific
capability requirements and purposes
The SkyCop/01 is available in an open and
closed cockpit version
Predominantly deployed for training purposes
Similar flight performance parameters but
reduced payload (second person on board)
Within this payload limitation, can be
customised and loaded with high-tech
equipments for specific tasks
Specifically if the task requires a human
observers / coordinator / commander on
board
The SkyCop/02 is currently available only in
an open cockpit version

The SkyCop is a universal airborne platform with a wide field of potential
applications for governmental agencies and commercial organisations
Selected uses / capabilities
Surveillance operations: either directly by the
pilot and/or supported with high-tech equipment
such as day light and/or IR cameras
Reconnaissance operations: monitoring of
inaccessible areas (drug war, international
monitoring missions) supported by equipment
including infrared detection
Guidance of ground operations: supporting
police forces in crowd control (loaded with AIR
Pass Loudspeaker systems) and traffic control,
monitoring coastlines, harbours and national
borders
Monitoring operations: environmental /
pollution monitoring, wildlife control, forest fire
prevention
Infrastructure maintenance operations:
detecting weaknesses in pipelines and power
line structures
Selected users / deployability
Police forces: traffic control, crowd control,
special forces surveillance operations (drug war,
insurgencies)
Border guards: surveillance of large and/or
inaccessible border areas, guidance of ground
operations
Coast guards: monitoring of shore lines and
harbours, conducting searches

The Skycopter’s total cost of ownership is superior to anything on the
market, offering a true alternative to comparably expensive helicopters
A SkyCop replacement of a helicopter will have amortised itself within less
than 2 years of service, based on the operating cost differential alone
Purchasing cost
Operating cost
Training cost
The basic Skycopter platform is three times cheaper than even the cheapest light
helicopter
Customisation / loading with special purpose equipment will not fundamentally
change the price advantage versus an equivalently customised helicopter
The Skycopter is fuelled by standard gasoline and require less than half the amount
It needs maintenance only every 100 flight hours (versus every 25 of a helicopter)
and is much easier to maintain (a good car mechanic can do the job)
Operating cost s are about 90 Euro per hour, versus at least 360 Euro for a
helicopter
At least 3 times cheaper than a comparable helicopter
At least 4 times cheaper than a comparable helicopter
The training of a helicopter pilots takes 3-6 months and costs between 15,000 Euro
and 30,000 Euro
The training of a Skycopter pilot takes 25 days (between 5,000 and 10,000 Euro)
Skycopter pilots do not require the same physical/mental fitness as helicopter pilots
At least 3 times cheaper than a comparable helicopter
12© 2009 Skycopter GmbH
The SkyCop is easy to transport, easy to maintain and easy to operate;
furthermore it is highly reliable and environmentally sustainable
The SkyCop is highly robust and resilient to hardship in the field
Easy Portability
Minimal operating
logistics
Environmentally
sustainable
Comfortable and
safe to fly
Modular structure facilitates shipping with standard ship-containers
With folded-in rotor and because of low weight, can be easily
transported by a standard pick-up truck on shorter distances
Simple modular design and use of standard car gasoline engine
allows maintenance by a well-trained car mechanic
Ruggedized build of airplane steel frame and carbon body
Ergonomically build around the pilot
Will stay in the air after a motor failure because of auto gyration
Much easier to fly than a helicopter
16 liters of premium automotive gasoline per hour versus 100 liter
aviation 100LL gasoline or JET/A1 per hour for a proper helicopter
Carbon footprint similar to that of a car make it the most
environmentally friendly airborne platform available
13© 2009 Skycopter GmbH
Given its high performance and superior economics, the SkyCop is a credible
replacement of helicopters
Many law enforcement tasks which have been deemed too expensive to
carry out with helicopters are economically viable deploying Skycopters
