THAN THE 2ND GENERATION

The generous amount of space and the high level of comfort have been some of the ŠKODA Superb Estate's specific strengths from the very beginning. With the new ŠKODA Superb Estate, these virtues have been developed even further, setting a new standard in this respect.Compared to the already generous space of the previous model, the spaciousness of the new Superb Estate has increased again. Driver and passenger can enjoy 39 mm more elbow room and more headroom. The space in the rear is almost 'princely', offering a legroom of 157 mm. This is around twice as much as the nearest competitor. The headroom is 995 mm at the front and 1,001 mm in the rear. No other model in the segment can offer this. Elbow room in the rear has increased by 70 mm. The boot capacity is a

record in the segment: 660 litres, that is 27 litres more than in the previous-generation Superb Estate. The regular Superb also has significantly more space with all the capacity of the estate but with larger head room and boot space (980 mm) is again more than in any other model in the segment. The boot capacity is again a record in the segment: at 625 litres, it is 30 litres bigger than in the second-generation Superb.With an array of completely new comfort solutions, the new ŠKODA Superb estate fulfils the highest demands. A comfort highlight in the new ŠKODA Superb Estate is the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) including Driving Mode Select. Completely new air conditioning, including for the first time, the new top-version three-zone air conditioning, ensures an optimal temperature

and the best air quality on board. For the colder times of the year, there are auxiliary heating, heated seats (front and rear), a wireless heated windscreen and heated washer jets. The rain/light sensor automatically switches the windscreen wipers on and off and automatically switches between daytime running light and dipped beam depending on light conditions. ŠKODA further improved the umbrella comfort feature in the side door of the Superb. Instead of one umbrella in the rear left-hand door, there is now an umbrella in each of the two front doors. Particularly convenient is also the new electric tailgate that can be complemented with a virtual pedal. This enables the tailgate to be opened by moving your foot in the area of the rear bumper.

TRAVEL INSPACE. The Superb Estate

The electrically adjustable driver seat with built in memory can store three different seating and door mirror positions.

Boarding spots are integrated into the door mirrors and are designed to illuminate the area below the door. This handy feature means you can always see where you are stepping, even in the dark.

With Tri-zone climate control you can set different temperatures for the driver, front and rear passengers.It’s also fitted with a humidity sensor, which reduces windscreen misting.

Folding door mirrors retractautomatically when you lock the car, which is especially useful when parking in busy areas.

INSIDE THE SUPERB

The new Superb is at the top of its class for space; the Estate offers a capacity of 660 litres,stretched to 1,950 litres with the rear seats folded down. For added practicality ŠKODA also added Simply Clever solutions that make handling luggage even easier.

The electrically-operated boot door can open and close automatically without you having to touch it. You can also adjust the height of the open position to suit your needs.

Now it is possible to open the boot simply by sweeping your foot underneath the rear bumper, thanks to the new Virtual Pedal. This feature enables contact-free access and is available with electrically-operated boot and KESSY (Keyless entry, start and exit system).

A practical removable LED flashlight can be found on the left side of the luggage compartment. It recharges automatically while the engine is running.

Foldable hooks, make it much easier to secure and transport items.

The Superb features ingenious compartments with two original Superb umbrellas fitted inside both front doors. They are designed to let water drain away from the car keeping the interior dry.

The clever integrated tow bar can fold out and then away again after use, and is controlled via the luggage compartment handle.

The glove box can also be cooled during a journey whilst the air conditioning is on.

Enjoy easier parking by equipping your car with the rear-view parking camera, which is located on the handle of the boot. It monitors the space behind the car and indicates the driving lanes, based on the vehicle width.

Minimise the hassle of parking in tight spaces with Park assist. It automatically selects an appropriate parking place in a row of parallel or perpendicularly parked vehicles. When parallel parking, it only needs a space 60 cm longer than the car itself.

Blind spot detection uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to monitor the blind areas behind and beside the car. Based on the distance and speed of the surrounding vehicles, it decides whether or not it should warn the driver, with optical or acoustic signals. The rear traffic alert feature (shown above), using the same radar sensors, helps you reverse safely from a parking space with poor visibility. It can even engage the brakes automatically if it detects imminent danger.

In this issue of the newsletter we get to know 3 of our Gordon Lamb ŠKODA staff: 2 at our Chesterfield dealership and 1 in Deby.

You may have already met our new sales manager if you've been into our Chesterfield showroom recently. Although Tony has only been with us for three months he's made a huge impression on all our staff and customers. Tony has been in the motor trade since he was a young man He was the youngest sales executive to be employed by the Volkswagen Group. So passionate is he about cars that he quickly rose through the ranks to take a position in management: "My favourite thing about the job is meeting new and interesting people

and working with a great sales team". Well Tony, here at Gordon Lamb, you won't

find a greater team this side of the Peak District! :) When Tony isn't working hard he likes nothing more than to play a few rounds of golf, although as a busy family man this doesn't happen as much as he'd like. Tony is also a big fan of Italian food (his favourite food being an authentic Spaghetti Carbonara), although with a fear of heights he definitely won't be climbing the Tower of Pisa on his next Italian holiday. Tony's favourite car is of course a ŠKODA Fabia Monte Carlo in actual fact, although his racy model hasn't arrived in our showrooms yet, so Tony is happy with his ŠKODA Superb for now.

Meet Paul Wilson, our sales manager at Gordon Lamb ŠKODA Derby. He's worked for us for 18 months. Before joining Gordon Lamb he used to sell Triumph Motor Cycles. Moving from two wheels to four wasn't such a difficult transition as Paul believes it's people that matter. He says: "Mentoring my staff to do the best they can, both for the customer and for the company is my favorite part of the job". When Paul isn't at work he loves to stay fit and healthy. His favorite food is a veggie salad. No wonder, as Paul used to be a lifeguard and gym instructor so he still treats his body like a temple by exercising everyday. When he's not down the gym Paul likes to enjoy time with his family and getting out on this motorbike, but nothing compares to his ŠKODA Octavia and his other favorite car, the Mercedes SLK.

Monte Carlo RangeIn tribute to the 114 year tradition that ŠKODA has been involved in motor sport it has expanded its very popular Monte Carlo range which at present consists of Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback models. But now ŠKODA has introduced the new Fabia Monte Carlo which was announced recently at the Geneva Motor Show. This will be available in a hatchback and estate version which is good news for all our customers here at Gordon Lamb ŠKODA. With its attractive visual appearance, rugged interior and comprehensive equipment, the new ŠKODA Fabia Monte Carlo is one of the most exciting vehicles in its class.

The most important features of the ŠKODA Fabia Monte Carlo are: black 16 or 17-inch alloy wheels, optional sports suspension, black exterior design elements, SunSet (tinted rear window and rear side windows) as well as a tinted panoramic glass roof. Most of us wouldn’t think twice about buckling up ourselves or our kids, but a survey found that only 16 percent of dog owners use a restraint to keep their pup safe on the road. ŠKODA unveils a seat belt to keep your dog safe on the road

This is the ŠKODA Octavia RS 230. ŠKODA’s new special model. The sportster scores points with a racy design, sporty interior, modern technology and impressive power output.

The ŠKODA Octavia RS 230 is the brand’s first car to feature electronically controlled front axle inter-wheel lock as standard – a feature that is particularly well suited to dynamic cornering.

Propelled by a 230 PS two-litre petrol engine, ‘230’ in the new RS model’s name refers to its horsepower. The top speed of this model is 155mph. This makes the ŠKODA Octavia 230 RS the fastest production Octavia of all time.

The RS initials denote ŠKODA’s successes in motorsport as well as the high performance. ŠKODA used the abbreviation RS for the first time as a model designation in 1974: the ŠKODA 180 RS and 200 RS racing cars are considered to be the original RS cars.

ŠKODA CYCLING ŠKODA has had a long tradition with cycling. ŠKODA founders, Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement began making bikes in their home town of Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic in 1895.Today ŠKODA are the official partner of the Tour de France, Tour of Britain

ŠKODA’s cars are loved by cyclists across the UK, and ŠKODA are the car of choice for many professional teams worldwide.

When co-founder Vaclav Klement bought a bicycle from a German manufacturer which broke shortly afterwards, he teamed up with bike mechanic Vaclav Laurin, and they began producing their own bicycles.

Cycling has remained important to ŠKODA since that day and they’ve honoured that heritage ever since.

From the production of motorbikes in 1899, Laurin and Klement built their very first car in 1905 - The Voiturette A which could reach speeds of 25mph (which was very impressive at the time!).

A merger with ŠKODA Works, a large industrial company, in 1924 saw the ŠKODA name appear on an automobile for the very first time. And the rest, as they say, is history.
