True, whole-leaf, Aloin-free, never carbon-filtered AloeAs consumers of Aloe Vera, it is in your best interest to understand as much as possible about this all-natural ingredient used in everything from moisturizers to health drinks. After explaining how we grow and process our Aloe Vera, you will have a better understanding of the industry and a rewarding realization that you purchase the best Aloe products available. Here are some important terms every Aloe consumer should know.

Hydroponics is an often misunderstood process of fertilizing the plant through a nutrient-rich water solution. Each all-natural nutrient, in its simplest form and size, provides maximum availability to the plant itself. Since Aloe Vera is affected by even the slightest variation in sun levels, the nutrient percentages are adjusted to fit the changing needs of the plants. These adjustments are made to ensure a consistently high quality Aloe leaf.

Unlike most field grown Aloe, the hydroponically grown plants do not need soil, since all necessary nutrients are received through the water solution. However, mature plants can exceed one hundred pounds, and we use sand to support this weight. Although there is nothing nutritional or superior about the sand we use, it is loose and easily sifted and steam-sterilized as needed, which keeps it free of organic waste and microorganisms which slows the growth of the plant and can lead to inferior products.

Thanks to the climate controlled greenhouses that shelter the plants, we can harvest the plants year round, without the use of pesticides or herbicides. Since the plant is most productive at a temperature between 70 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, these greenhouses allow the Aloe to grow without experiencing any shock from even the slightest weather change. This enables us to grow the highest quality leaf possible.

Once the plants are completely matured, they are removed from the sand, root and all. After harvesting up to 60 pounds of leaf, the remaining heart and roots are then replanted, allowing for the highest level of regeneration per plant possible. All Aloe Vera is harvested, processed and delivered to the factory within hours. This timely processing of the plant allows for the strongest, most concentrated product possible.

In compliance with FDA regulations, the ingredient lists must show the ingredients in the order of the percentage used in the formula, with the first item listed being the highest percentage. The first ingredient shown in all Kathy Dallas labels is Wholeleaf Aloe Vera. Examine almost all other moisturizing creams on the market and you will find that the first ingredient listed is “Purified Water”. This means that the product may contain about 45% WATER. All Kathy Dallas products contain 20% to 45% Whole Leaf Aloe Vera as the base ingredient from which we build each totally unique product.

Aloe Vera is the major ingredient in all Kathy Dallas products and Purified Water is usually listed second or third, never first. This gives the Kathy Dallas consumers more soothing benefits than almost any other product on the market. Each of our specialized products has its own selection of other key ingredients that make each of the Kathy Dallas Products uniquely the best for its designed use.

The Aloe Vera plant has been known for its skin softening, soothing and healing capabilities since the dawn of civilization, but only fairly recently have scientists attempted to verify the many claims that have been made about it. The first recorded evidence of its healing properties was discovered in an ancient Egyptian papyrus dated 3500 BC - a collection of herbal remedies - by George Ebers in 1862.

The Egyptians, since 3500 BC, have referred to it as “the Plant of Immortality”. Drawings of this plant have even been found inscribed in the tombs of Pharaohs. Coleoptera and Nephritides are reputed to have relied on it to help preserve their legendary beauty. They used the Fresh Aloe Vera to keep their skin soft and young. It has been established that others who used Aloe Vera for healing was Aristotle, Alexander the Great, and Dioscorides, a Greek physician. Also the Africans, Chinese, Indians and early Christians learned the benefits and uses for Aloe Vera. Later Aloe Vera use was introduced into the Americas, Mexico, Central & South America. Jesuit priests took Aloe Vera into the New World. In the 18th century, it’s use spread to the British, Spanish and Dutch.

Aloe Vera Facts and BenefitsAloe Vera skin care products should come from top quality Aloe Vera plants, such as the Aloe Barbadensis Miller. The Aloe Vera plant has over 75 nutrients and a stunning 200 active compounds. The active compounds include: 12 vitamins, 20 minerals, and 18 amino acids. It’s age-old reputation as a skin softener, skin soother (burns), skin healer, moisturizer, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory agent is due to the numerous enzymes, nutrients, and plant compounds known as polysaccharides. Through the action of its polysaccharides, Aloe has the ability to provide the skin with water-binding abilities, thereby restoring and retaining moisture. Combined with another compound found in Aloe, lignin, the polysaccharides help Aloe Vera to penetrate through the layers of the skin, allowing deep absorption. This penetrating action permits other nutrients to enter and nourish the inner layers of the skin.

Further research suggests that Aloe Vera increases the skin’s support protein, collagen (which keeps skin firm and youthful looking), by increasing human fibroblast cells six to eight times faster than normal cell production. Aloe Vera has also been known to be an excellent cleanser; it exfoliates old cells; cleans the pores; mops up excess oils; and removes wastes and toxins. In addition, Aloe Vera has a tightening, astringent action which reduces large pores and the possibility of blemishes. Kathy Dallas contains ample amounts of Aloe Vera.

In order to insure that every product we make is of premium quality, all manufacturing is done in a modern 200,000 sq. ft. facility which features state of the art equipment and quality control methods. Product development and purity testing is carried out in our chemistry lab by a staff of talented and experienced chemists. We use only the finest natural ingredients to formulate products. All Aloe Vera products are manufactured using a high percentage of Aloe Vera “unlike most so-called aloe products, most of which contain very little real aloe”. All products are made in stainless steel kettles which are steam cleaned for safety.
