Who We Are

Skills Solutions is one of the largest providers of work based learning for young people and adults in the North West. Since 2000, we’ve supported thousands of young people who want to kick start their careers, and adults who want to raise their skill level throughout their working life and achieve their full potential.

With fourteen training locations in the region, a wide range of trades and professional areas to choose from and a successful track record stretching over 20 years, Skills Solutions are a great place to get started on your chosen career path, and continue to develop your skills as your career progresses.

As well as practically based training, we also offer a wide range of classroom based courses designed to cater for all levels and all ages. With us you can begin with the Apprenticeship job, training programme or course which suits you best and offers you the fastest route to securing or developing your career.

What We Offer

intermediate, advanced and higher apprenticeshipsApprenticeships are jobs with nationally recognised qualifications where you will ‘earn while you learn’.

For those leaving education and other young adults (16-23 year olds) who are ready to get started on the career ladder, we offer a wide range of Apprenticeships from traditional trades such as Engineering, Hairdressing and Construction, through to new professional areas like Marketing, HR and IT.

We offer Apprenticeships at Intermediate, Advanced and Higher levels so you can step in at the level that’s right for you, progress through the levels as your career develops, and even progress on to Higher Education.

Working with over 2000 local employers and having on average 200 Apprenticeship vacancies at any one time means that we can offer the best Apprenticeship opportunities in the region.

traineeshipsA Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that offers school/college leavers or young unemployed adults (16-24 year olds) the opportunity to build the skills and experience employers are looking for. Traineeships include work preparation training, English and Maths (for those who need it) and a high quality work experience placement and last for a flexible amount of time, from six weeks to a maximum of six months.

Courses for adults or Young PeopleWhether you want to learn a trade to help you find a job, need general support to increase your chances of getting a job, or you are already employed and want to work towards a professional qualification, we have a fantastic range of accredited work and classroom based courses for young people and adults. Our state of the art training centres provide a great learning environment where you will be taught by experienced industry professionals. What makes studying with us different is that all of our students who are not already in employment receive intensive support to find a job, including help with interview and CV preparation.

higher educationAt our Churchgate Academy we offer a range of Higher Education programmes and Access courses and many of our Apprentices go on to study higher level qualifications up to and including degree level with us. Validated by our university partners, our degree programmes are all delivered on a part time basis and provide a great progression route from an Advanced Apprenticeship.
