SKILLSMALAYSIA INVITE

International Technical Education and Vocational Training Programme in Malaysia (INVITE) is an innovative initiative developed with the aim of preparing the technical and vocational training graduates with comprehensive skills and knowledge. The programme was designed to include the elements of core technical skills, technological knowledge, communication skills, employability skills and businesses administrative competencies.

The SkillsMalaysia INVITE programmes prepares its graduates for eventual successful careers in employment as knowledgeable and skilled employees or as entrepreneurs.

The programmes also designed to incorporate with an Internship Programmes with local industrial partners. It is a structured innovative internship programme that is accredited, audited and certified by the Accredited Training Centres and Government monitoring agency, which offers trainees a unique first-hand-on experience in their learnt trade area. The internship programme bridges the gap between learning and training environment with a “real-life” practice or working experience.

SkillsMalaysia INVITE main objectives are:

• Create and provide a new dimension of learning skills to school leavers and adult learners who are option-out from the purely academic stream.

• Offer Malaysian Skills Certification and International Vocational skills qualifications.

• Provide skills base training for employment or entrepreneurial skills.

• Provide opportunities for trainees to obtain gainful employment as skilled employees or entrepreneurs.

This programme is designed for international trainees who are interested to pursuein technical and vocational skills training in Malaysia.

Among the advantages of SkillsMalaysia INVITE:

• Training curriculum developed by Accredited Training Organisation based on National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS), which is developed by the industries.• Commencement with over 1400 Accredited Programmes across multiple disciplines.• Complete Pathways from Level 1 (Malaysian Skills Certificate) to Level 4 (Malaysian Skills Diploma) and Level 5 (Malaysian Skills Advance Diploma) programme.• 10 New Programmes to be developed by industries & rolled-out each quarter

5.2.1 Curriculum Development

• Involvement of Industry-Lead Bodies (ILBs) in Standards and curriculum development.• Adoption of international and industry best practice & Standards in the curriculum development.• ILBs are sit in Assessment Board to determine quality control.

5.2.2 Internship

• As part of the activities, ILBs are allowed to take-in Interns as PICs.• Internship is Accredited, Audited & Certified.• Internship activities and supervision be entered into the log-book• PICs are encouraged to pay allowances to Interns.

5.2.3 Recruitment & Sponsorships

• All application & recruitment must go through the Accredited Centres• PICs or ILBs may pledge sponsorships to take in Trainees for eventualInternship (subject to terms & conditions).

A new and i nnovative programme i s proposed, w hich combines both theoretical know-how and practical on-the-job internship. This promises to bring out the best in both trainees and employers.

The iNVITE 4 Programme can be broken into 3 parts:

a) Trainees undergo a 1 -week o rientation programme (before movig onto an integrated two-part programme)b) Classroom sessionsc) Practical training during internship session

INVITE 4Type of certification and Specification could either be from INVITE 2 or INVITE 3.

Depending on the SkillsMalaysia INVITE programme the trainee is enrolled in wether INVITE 1, 2 or 3 their internships are undertaken within a period of 12 to 24 weeks.

Under SkillsMalaysia INVITE 4 programme the internship is done throughout the 2 to 3 year period. The trainee will undergo both classroom sessions a t the Accredited Centres and intership at the Participating Internship Companies ( PIC) concurrently. The i ntership component m akes up approximately 40% of the programme.
