Skills Development PageAt the start of the media studies course we had very little knowledge of what we are able to do on applications such as Photoshop and so forth.

The skills development tab is to present our progress and development in learning new applications. We began learning and progressing firstly with Photoshop in which we re-created and re-imagined both magazine covers and film posters. In the process we developed new abilities within the program such as using the ‘clipping mask’ in Photoshop.

Safe House

Safe House SDAt the start of the re-creation process of the ‘Safe House’ poster we looked at the original to see what was needed in order to replicate it.

This is the finished version of the re-created film poster. During the process we learned how to resize multiple images, to create shapes inside as well as implement skewedness to text as well as effects.

We began by placing the three images in the appropriate places. We then added two rectangular blocks between each image and gave them a gradient of red and black.

For the actors titles we used a bold Impact font and skewed it to match the text on the original poster. We then placed it onto the rectangular boxes.

After this, all was left was both the title and slogan. We created the slogan using the same format of text (Impact bold) however we applied a stroke effect to surround the black text with white.

The final feature is the title. For this we placed it in the centre of the image and used a bevel/emboss effect on the text. This allowed us to add both structure and shading to the text.

American Heist SDA re-imagine of the ‘AMERICAN HEIST’ poster.

This is the finished version of the re-created film poster. During the process we learned how use the clipping mask, add gradients properly. Use the satin effect and much more such as the opacity of images/text.

We began by adding the images to the canvas. We then used satin and other effects on the image to give it almost a cinematic overlay.

Once the images were done we added a rectangle block with a red gradient stroke. We used tools such as the clipping mask to add a charcoal style image to the inner rectangle block.

After doing this we added on AMERICAN HEIST text and use the same effects as we did on the previous SAFE HOUSE image but used a clipping mask to make the text have an American flag.

To conclude we added an opaque image of a person above the rectangle then added actors.

Bourne Ultimatum SDA re-imagine of the ‘BOURNE ULTIMATUM’ poster.

This is the finished version of the re-created film poster. During the process we learned how to crop, place images and add brush effects such as the clouds including the free transform effects where we flipped the background image to match the background of the actual poster.

We began by adding the Manhattan background onto the image. In order to make the background match the posters we had to use a transform tool and flip it horizontally.

The next stage was adding clouds to the sky. We used both the brush tool as well as transparent cloud’s to make the sky seem cloudy. We then took the opacity of the cloud layer down to make it look realistic in the image.

We then placed a picture of myself onto it and used the lasso tool along with the eraser to remove myself from the background. After some placement and resizing it was in place.

The last stage was the titles in which we used both Bold and normal text for the titling. We used small blue text for information and then we placed a universal logo below it. That concluded the Bourne Poster remake development.
