Settling into schoolWe hope that your child has already settled
into the new routines, and they are happy with the day to day organisation.
The children are now becoming aware of the increasing expectations.
We aim to support and nurture them in developing their own individual skills and talents.
During the Autumn term the children study
“ Children of the Revolution.”They will visit Big Pit to see what life
underground was like.The children will also find out about
conditions for children in Victorians times .They will research the impact of the
Industrial Revolution on Wales
Autumn Term
SpringTermThis term, the children will
study a unit of work called, “ Blood, Bones and Gory Bits,” a look at the body and how it works.
The second topic this term will be “Travel Agents,” a topic which will look at the changing face of tourism around the world.
Summer Term
This term the focus of study will be the Gods and Gladiators.
The children will become, “ Historical detectives,” to try to find out as much as possible about this period in history.
Summer Term
This is the term when there will be a visit t the Urdd Centre at Llangrannog where they will be able to try lots of different activities.
The dates are June 1st to 3rd.

Other weekly featuresYour child has a weekly Games/ PE session.
They require suitable PE kit, which can be left in school. This will be on a Thursday - black shorts and white t shirt and for outdoor games warmer gym clothes and trainers
There is a weekly spelling test on a Friday where the children will be tested by their partners on individually generated lists. Spelling patterns will also be taught. Spelling Journals.
A speed test is given each week on a Friday focusing on the relevant times tables ( link on the Portal.)
ReadingWe will be developing your child’s reading skills
throughout the year. We aim encourage a love of books and want the children to enjoy reading, providing the opportunity for them to experience a wide range of texts.
Your child has a Reading Journal which acts as a dialogue between school and home, where reading at home can be recorded..
Your child also reads in a weekly group reading session with the teacher .
The interactive white board and IPads also encourage reading through many other subjects throughout the day.
Maths•We want your child to be confident independent and resourceful in mathematics.
•Maths is taught every day
•Children will be taught in ability groups but the groups are flexible and will change during the year.
•Children will be expected to know their multiplication facts by the end of the year.
