Brothers,

This past weekend I had the pleasure of completing the Fourth Degree Exemplification with new Sir Knights’ Ron Hansen, Dominick Pietro, and PGK Tim Tuttle. I would like to thank Sir Knights’ Jeff Brent, Ted Dudziak, Darren Medeiros and PGK Stephen Natale for joining us at the Exemplification.

January the Knights of Columbus also celebrated the Sanctity of Life by supporting the Walk for Life in San Francisco. I searched for PGK Lou Santero but never did meet up. I did meet with brothers from the Livermore Council and marched from Civic Center Plaza to the Ferry Building with them

This month we are back to our regular schedule the Officers Meeting will be held Thursday Feburary 2 at 7:00 with the Business Meeting being held Thursday Feburary 9 with dinner starting at 7:00PM.

The Annual Crab Feed is scheduled for February 25, 2017. PGK Tim Tuttle has tickets on sale now. We need your help to make this event just as successful as in years past. Please do your best to help PGK Tim Tuttle (Chief Crab) and Robert Federighi (Head Auctioneer) make this event another memorable opportunity to raise funds for local charitable organizations that desperately need our support. We are still looking for some brothers that may be able to donate miles to package with the condo for a Hawaiian vacation package please let Brother Robert know is you can help with miles. Council 6043 is happy to congratulate four of its members becoming new Sir Knights, on January 28th 2017 in Rohnert Park. They now are also members of Assembly 1979 in Dublin California. If anyone was interest and missed out on this opportunity, there is another chance in April to be held in Sacramento.

Knights of Columbus councils and many other concerned people will begin the process of starting a peaceful prayer vigil outside a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Walnut Creek located at 1357 Oakland Blvd.

What is a 40 Days for Life campaign? It is a continuous, peaceful prayer vigil that runs for 40 days starting on Wednesday 3/1 through Saturday 4/8 , from 7AM through 7PM daily! All Sundays are excluded. This vigil makes no attempts to judge, uses no offensive signs and requires a pledge of peaceful conduct. It is not a political demonstration. We are not trying to change laws, but with the help of the Holy Spirit we will change hearts. It may give a woman a last chance for help in their crisis pregnancy. “ If my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will Heal their land.” 2 Chron. 7:14

How much time you volunteer is entirely up to you but one hour per week is suggested. There will be a minimum of two people assigned to each hour.

Pat and Doug Bosma, living in the Birdland area of Pleasanton Valley were involved in a very serious car accident 11 years ago. Doug lost his sight and suffers from a traumatic brain injury.

Our council has been helping Pat and Doug for many years. Last year their lawn was cut each week by 10 brother knights. It only takes one hour and the commitment is for 9 months, starting 2/25/17 through 11/25/17. Last year this came to only 4 cuttings per Knight!

They have the equipment we supply the manpower. Don’t worry about unexpected emergencies conflicting with your commitment because we have the flexibility to cope with them.

Charity is the foundation of our Order and the principle reason given by our members for joining. Please consider helping this family. A roster will be printed and forwarded to all brother knights who volunteer.

During the month of January, we spend a lot of time thinking about ourselves. What will our New Year’s resolutions be? How will we change our lives? What will 2017 bring for us?

But what about the ones you love? Is protecting them part of your plan for 2017? Sure, there’s a lot that you can and do to protect your loved ones. You make sure they’re safe. You make sure they’re taken care of. You do your best to make them happy. But what if you weren’t there for them? What if you couldn’t be?

Many are afraid to think about life insurance because they’re afraid of their mortality. But life insurance isn’t about dying, it’s about helping your family to live if and when something should happen to you.
