The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 and became a national organization through the efforts of

presidents of three state universities. From the start, its primary objective has been to recognize and encourage

superior scholarship in all fields of study, with good character as a supporting attribute of those elected to membership.

“Let the love of learning rule humanity” is the motto of the Society.

The San Jose State University Chapter was founded in 1953.
