The faculty selected three individuals from among the anniver-sary graduates to receive the Delta Epsilon Chi Honorary Award. This award is given by The Association of Biblical Higher Educa-tion (ABHE) to alumni who have been out of college for at least 10 years. Those receiving this award were selected based on their approved Christian character and evident leadership ability in Christian work.

Daniel Schantz served as a professor at Central for 43 years. As professor of Christian Education he spent most of his time training teachers, but he also taught the Bible books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, plus Children’s Literature and American Literature.
Although he retired in 2011, Dan continues to remain active at CCCB by auditing classes and supply preaching.
Dan loves to garden, ride his bike, and listen to Frank Sinatra. He also writes for a variety of publications including Christian Standard and Guideposts.
He and his wife, Sharon, have been married for 54 years, and they are the parents of two daughters, Teresa Williams and Natalie Cleeton. They greatly enjoy their four grandchildren.
