SPEECH A - use this page to prepare for your speech.

This assignment is designed to give you an early opportunity to get in front of your peers and introduce yourself. It also provides me with a benchmark of your public speaking ability at the start of the semester. You have 2-2:30 minutes to describe yourself using objects a visitor would find in your home. Structure your speech around these objects to keep it organized (3 or 4 objects is probably enough). Each object could be something you use often (hobbies, etc) or something that demonstrates your personality. You should write and practice your speech in advance but you should not be reading it word for word when you deliver it (limited notes are OK, but put them on a note card... do not bring up your whole workbook!).

DO NOT BRING THE OBJECTS IN. This is not show-and-tell. Use the objects as ways to describe yourself and what you like... they are a narrative device, not a prop.
