The month of May is Christian Home Month. It is a time that is set aside by the United
Methodist Church to help families refocus their attention upon family. The theme for this year’s
Christian Home Month is “Families Called to Peace.” The United Methodist Church follows a four-year
cycle of “Families called to Love”, “Families called to Peace”, “Families called to Justice” and
“Families called to Hope.”
The General Board of Discipleship has a guide for you to celebrate “Christian Home Month”
with your family. It is a 7-page resource guide that you can find at https://gbod-
assets.s3.amazonaws.com/legacy/kintera-images/family-ministry/ChristianHomeMonth2018.pdf. There
are different suggestions for Family Devotional Times on page 3.
Some of these suggestions include a Family Game Night, Count Your Blessings (at least once a
week during dinner), Study Scripture today (suggestions: Isaiah 2:4-5; Isaiah 11:6-9; Psalm 34:14;
Zechariah 8:16,19; Jeremiah 29:7; Matthew 5:9; John 14:27; Romans 12:18; Romans 14:19; Hebrews
12:14; and/or Ephesians 4:3), Refrigerator Scripture Reminders, Make an Acrostic using the word
PEACE (ex. Pray-Everyone is God’s child-Act to help others-Consider the feelings of others-Exercise
patience/perseverance); and/or Table Talk (ex. for Table Talk discussion: “When Jesus said, ‘My peace I
give to you,’ what do you think He meant?” or “Name a kindness you would describe as an act of peace.
What other kindness could be described as an act of peace?”). These are just a few suggestions for you
and your family.
Single/Single-Again Meets Sunday, May 20th, 12:30 PM, at Sanuki Restaurant. Please sign up on the Welcome Center bulletin board.

In Joshua 24, Joshua directed the people to make a choice. Commit. Commit either to God or
to the idols of the people God had already conquered. Joshua said, “As for me and my house, we will
serve the Lord.” Joshua publicly proclaimed whom he and his family would serve. Joshua was going to
commit to follow God.
We are given this same ultimatum. Will we trust, serve, and worship God or will we trust,
serve, and worship something else? Sometimes it is a daily question we must face. Serve God, serve
myself, or serve something else. In serving God, He will grant us peace that surpasses all
understanding, if we let Him.
In a world frenzied with violence, it is important to establish peace in our homes and church.
Whether we realize it or not, the decisions we make of accepting peace in our own lives, even when
there is chaos or destruction all around us, comes from the decision to accept the peace that surpasses all
understanding—the peace of God. Philippians 4:7 reads, “And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
This is the peace that can guard your families and help you grow together to establish a
Christian Home. The end of the Litany for Families found in the above website is this: “For all families,
bless us in our lifelong quest to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.”
May that be our prayer during the month of May.

Dear Trinity Family, Thank you so much for your cards, prayers, gifts and kind words since the death of my mother. It’s nice to be a part of a loving church, especially when your family is miles away.

God’s Blessing A Caring Mother
May is a very special month, Flowers are starting to bloom. Grass will be growing, people will be mowing,
Warm weather will be here soon.
We also celebrate Mother’s Day, Children are a gift from God. We praise good mothers everywhere,
They deserve a hug and a nod. Thank you Lord for good mothers,
They are the salt of this earth. Their unending love for their children,
Starts when they give birth. It isn't easy to raise a child,
It has its ups and its downs. But with love, understanding, and patience,
There’s nothing like it around. We want our children to grow happy and strong,
Be knowledgeable, self-sufficient, and know all along, that we are there for them and love them unconditionally.
Happy Mother’s Day! Love to ALL

Project Agape What is Project Agape Shoe Box Ministry? It is a ministry par tnership between Armenia Apostolic Christians and the Western and North Carolina Conferences of the United Methodist Church. Shoe boxes are packed with items and given at Christmas. Suggestions include: clothing articles, school supplies, and toys. Why should I support? Armenia is the oldest Chr istian region in the wor ld. As fellow Christians we need to share our resources and love. NC United Methodists are the ONLY humanitarian aid relief for an area “rocked by earthquakes, genocide, economic collapse and extreme poverty.” Who receives the boxes? Children from bir th to 18 years of age can receive a Christmas box. Where are the boxes sent? Boxes are sent to the Armenia region. How can I support? Pick up a packing list from the table under the bulletin board in the Welcome Center. Decide what age child, girl or boy, you wish to send a box. You MUST use a plastic shoe box. They can be found at the dollar stores. There is a suggested list of items to include. However, you may buy other items not listed. Always put check marks by the items purchased or check “other” and write a specific description of the items. Include $5.00 per box to cover transportation costs. Cash or a check made out to NC Conference with “Agape Christmas Boxes” written in the memo line. Pray for the child who will receive your Christmas shoe box. When are the boxes due? Please have your boxes back to the church by the end of May. Armenia celebrates Christmas in January. Our goal this year is 60. Contact Joyce Albertson with any questions.
Congratulations to Nolan & Jodi Tomboulian on the birth of a new grandson, Miguel Anderes Arvizu. He was born on April 19th and he weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. Proud parents are Tony & Myra Arvizu and he was welcomed by big brothers Bryan & Luis and big sister Erin.

Tupperware Love
I come from a time, When repair was still in style,
Trash cans were small, Recycling bins didn’t exist,
And work wasn't a four-letter word.
Hand-me-downs and tradition were gifts, New was rare, broken-in-cherished.
Shoes were resoled, clothing patched. And a symbol of love,
Was as simple, yet intricate, As a teddy bear with worn-off eyes.
Durable, not disposable.
Repairable, not replaceable. Bonded, not broken.
Dedicated, not deceived.
I come from a time, Where friends lasted a lifetime,
And disagreeing didn’t mean disintegrating. Where you held on; far more often than you let go.
I come from a time,
Where love was requited, And as durable as your Grandmother’s Tupperware,
And as trustworthy too; Steady, reliable, enduring.
Passed down, and expected back, And filled with goodness too.
I come from a time,
Some may believe is long gone. And yet, here I am, Waiting patiently,
For that love, to come back into style.
