single parent adoption: social work students attitudes / msw thesis
DESCRIPTION
Graduate thesis for Master of Social Work. Cal. State University, Long Beach.Over a million foster children in the U.S. are awaiting permanent homes. The use of single parent families is often disparaged by public and private adoption agencies - to the detriment of children needing families. This is my graduate thesis submitted for the Master of Social Work degree. It takes a brief look at current MSW students attitudes in this area.It is now 2011. I have in the final stages of adopting a special needs child from the foster care system. The biases of social workers toward single parents continues to be strong - to the detriment of children who need permanent homes.TRANSCRIPT
