NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

New Year is the time for life changing decisions that bring about a complete overhaul in our life. A time for making resolutions and trying to take charge of things and bringing about changes that you always desired which requires Inspiration. Since the MC and I took office we have had lots of inspiration from many of you and the members of the MC. Some of the suggestions really rocketed. For the New Year 2015, we need more of these ideas that will inspire and benefit us to do more for the members of Singapore Sindhi Association and bring our Sindhis in Singapore to greater unity and kinship. During my recent trip to Vientaine, Laos I was fortunate to have dinner with Mano Wadhwani there. Their children had to learn 2 languages just like Singapore. It was really very stimulating to hear from him that although there were only two Sindhi “Akai” (family) there (one was the Jesnani and the other his) ALL of the Sindhis there from the youngest to the eldest know how to speak Sindhi fluently!!! Our wish for 2015 is to promote the Sindhi language to more and more of our children here. The MC and I plan to have more events stimulating this – Romanised Sindhi Teaching, Cheti Chand Mela, Sindhi Sammelan (2017) and other activities. Please do your best to encourage your families to take part proactively in these and other events. We really need your involvement both as volunteers and as participants to make even the best programme successful. I would like to highlight the effort of our Uncle Chatru with the Seniors and Mr M J Lalwani who has kindly started the social dancing classes regularly and also our youth Ms Krisha for starting the Sindhi Youth team. They are really inspiring doing this selflessly. Let us together usher in the New Year with not just new calendar but also with a new thinking power and a Sindhiyat thinking.
