A Thousand Skies | Suzann Victor
Raffles City, Level 3
17 – 25 August 2018 | 7.30pm – 10.00pm
A Thousand Skies is a nomadic pavilion with an urban vision to provide local communities with a broad
ownership of use, whichever city it pops up in. The “heart” of the artwork marks out a public space that
invites audiences to be viewers as much as be the “art” within the artwork — by becoming live
presenters of their own artistic talent or creators of engaging activities. This intimate enclosure is formed
by unique soft architecture of transparent lenses distinctively assembled to transform the way we see
and experience the city’s surrounding environment. Informal and engaging, the installation engenders
human connection and meaning-making across our multiple cultures and demographics.
Supported by Raffles City
About Suzann Victor
Suzann Victor is best known for her compelling public artworks and installations that respond to
context, space and architecture with distinctive forms and ideas from the socio-political to the
harnessing of science and physics. With international showcases, Victor has represented
Singapore at the 49th Venice Biennale (Italy), 6th Havana Biennale (Cuba) and 2nd Asia-Pacific
Triennial (Australia). In 2017, Victor was offered a special residency by the Fukuoka Asian Art

New York-based Civitella Ranieri Foundation Fellowship (2009) and the coveted artist residency
at the STPI (2014) with public works at high profile locations such as World Square in Sydney and

About Pierre Ranzini & Cristina Di Pasqual
Pierre Ranzini is an all-rounded, multi-disciplinary artist with a strong passion for visual arts and light
installations. His artistic research surrounds the various concepts of what shapes reality, fueling him to
use new technologies to create bridges between different media and the mechanics of technology and
art anthropology. Ranzini’s works challenge its audience by testing and staging space and time,
carving, cutting, glue-testing the present to determine the conditions of time and the universe it creates.
Eager to create a platform for collaboration with other like-minded artists, Ranzini founded Mad
Rhizome in 2011.
Stage designer and graphic designer Cristina Di Pasquali received her degree in decoration and
scenography with honours from the Catania Academy of Fine Arts. With a background in teaching and
graphic design, she moved to Paris to create new works by manipulating light and graphics, which led
her to join Pierre Ranzini’s Mad Rhizome as the artistic director for the creation of decors for events

man and his dynamic evolvement through time and space. This performance is in collaboration

solutions globally since 2006. Audra, one of the company’s latest innovations, helps reduce
