Fourth grade took a
field trip to Rice Uni-
versity on January 25.
Sinclair is hoping that
the fourth graders
will continue their
education after they
graduate high school,
and attend college.
This is a new field
trip for the fourth
grade. Other schools
go there, and Sinclair
wants to be part of
the schools who show
their students what
Universities look
like. The teachers are
hoping that Sinclair
Superstars will be-
come more educated
as they grow up.
This is the “First An-
nual” tour of Rice,
and Mr. Mashburn
said that they will see
if they like the trip,
and upon that will
decide if future fourth
graders will go to
Rice again.
Several Rice students
said the campus is
great, and they think
Rice is a very good
college.
All the fourth grade
teachers want their
students to go to
Rice. The students
think that Rice is
really interesting. Al-
most every one of
them wants to go to
Rice! Mr. Augustine
said that Rice has a
small campus, but the
students disagree.
“How do the teachers
say this is small? This
is so BIG!”said Anjni
Patel.

Uniforms. Are they bad or are
they good? Well, in my opinion,
they can be both. There are two
answers for each in my opinion.
These are the reasons that prove
that uniforms are good.
The first reason is that they help
you get ready faster in the morn-
ing. “How?” Some people might
ask. The reason is because you
don’t have as many clothes to
look through in the
morning.
For instance, if your
school didn’t have
uniforms, and you
were picking out
clothes that didn’t
match, then you
might have to waste a lot of time
to find clothes that do match.
And that’s time that you usually
use for brushing your teeth or
eating breakfast.
The second reason was because
if someone didn’t like your style,
they might make fun of you.
With uniforms that won’t occur.
Now, we are going to talk about
the reasons against uniforms.
The first thing that we’re going
to discuss is related to the second
reason that goes with uniforms,
which is personality.
People feel that they should ex-
press their style, but that might
come with consequences. If peo-
ple tease you, either stand up to
the bully, or just ignore him/her.
The second reason is confidence.
When people get to wear what-
ever they want, they feel free and
feel better about their school
work.

Stephanie Birkelbach worked
really hard to prepare for the
Sinclair Spelling Bee.
Her mom would help her with
the spelling, and every other
day she would learn five words.
The next day, she would reveal
all the words she already
learned.
It was easy for her to remember
them because she already
learned them and knew how
to say them.
Stephanie practiced from the
day she got her paper to the
day before the spelling bee.
Stephanie was not always a
good speller. She was really
surprised when she won.
The night before the Spelling
Bee Stephanie was crying be-
cause she was scared she
would not win.

The first grade basketball team
and coach were interviewed.
Here’s what he had to say.
“The team is like my dream
team. There are no bad sports-
men,” he said. “After the game
they get in a line and shake the
defeated teams’ hands.”
At the end of the season, the 1st
and 2nd grade team remained
undefeated. They received
|trophies and will be able to
keep their uniforms.
