It’s getting cold outside The seasons are changing and the cold

weather will be here soon. The children will

go outside every day, so it is important for

your child to dress appropriately. Please

bring in a warm coat, hat, gloves and boots.

Also, remember to replace your child’s

spare clothes from summer with winter

ones, and please label all of your child’s

clothing and nap items with their name.

Remember to use the feature in Tadpoles when your child

will not be at school. You don’t have to even call the center.

It is so simple and helpful!

Pre-K begins at 8:30am. The children in Red and Purple need to be at

school to begin their day with their classmates at 8:30am. This is so im-

portant to develop and support the academic growth and social/

emotional growth so we can prepare them for Kindergarten.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTION

In last month’s newsletter, I introduce to you what Executive Function is

and why it is important. Going forward each month, I would like to use

this section to give some examples of how you can practice with and chal-

lenge your child in the area of executive function.

Some great games to play at home with your child are:

*Simon Says *Musical Chairs (get the whole family to play!) *Freeze Dance These are great ways to get a child to work on EF. For example, in Simon Says, children have to switch back and forth between following your direc-tions (when you say Simon Says) and not following your directions (when you don’t say Simon Says). They have to keep the Simon Says rule in mind, and inhibit their tendency to respond. You will notice that your child will get better with practice. Challenging your child’s EF skills can easily be done at home by providing them with age-appropriate support. Such as, nudging the correct puzzle piece closer to them so that the child can “discover” the correct piece themselves. This is giving them “just enough, not too much” support and keeps your child exercising their EF skills. Just remember, children devel-op their EF skills by using them!

Costume Parade The children had so much fun during our Costume Parade!

They visited several offices in Building 9, 13, 14, and 11, and

even got to go visit Dr.

Johnson in Building 12!
